thanks rantipole: interesting facts. I also know they move really slowly because they only eat leaves which aren't very nutritious. Haha wasp nest!

I will not eat anything that walks, swims, flies, runs, skips, hops or crawls.

Bigger than regular bats, they are 'flying dogs'/'flying foxes'... the last picture is of an animal they thought already was exctinct.
The dog bats are large, and have a wing span of nearly 1.5 meters (6 feet):

(Some of) the flying foxes are apparently small:

Yes, my mother used to volunteer for the Bat Conservation Trust, and they once had a call on their helpline from someone describing something that they had found in their garden that sounded like a fruit bat (=flying fox), which of course we don't have in the UK.
The bat conservation people thought it was a wind-up but the person was so insistent that they sent someone to look, and it turned out to be a "companion" fruit bat that someone had lost
^ I just watched the video about the Tree Kangaroos. So cute!

Aw I love flying foxes!! Great pictures everyone!
My two favourite (can you tell what my favourite animal is? lol)
Only discovered in the 60's (and no it's not a basking shark!)
Frilled Shark:
This was only discovered at the beginning of 2007 when it came to the surface in Japanese waters. It existed at depths that humans haven't been able to explore yet and only came up because it was dying. It looks prehistoric so it's rather scary as well as beautiful. If you want to see the video of then you can here;

But I warn you it can be distressing as it is dying but at the same time, it's so amazing to see something that we never knew existed 3-4 years ago!
That Frilled Shark is so glorious....
Okay cutest thing ever:
And has anybody seen this? Kinda offputting...like...does he know they're there?
