I think it's an awesome idea. We already have the picture warnings on cigarettes here, so here's hoping they do the same with meat.Might open a few peoples eyes.
Added my tuppence worth to the comments.![]()
Wouldn't it be good if everything sold had to carry some kind of ethical rating/description? That way people might also avoid buying salad packed by exploited immigrant workers and clothes made in sweatshops![]()
Yes that would be a good idea Harpy, then people could make more informed choices.
Ya but who's gonna pay for it?
And I think a (more likely to be done) idea is changing the names of ingredients on food lists, like gelatin would be 'boiled bone extract' and things like that.
Also, every product should have a set of icons showing if it is vegan, veggie, gluten-free, cruelty-free, etc.
Yeah, I wish everything was labeled. I'm sure that it would affect a large portion of the general public's shopping habits. Sweatshop, fairtrade, vegan, ect. It would all be nice. I know that Quaker Oats has a 'heart healthy' sticker on their oatmeal stating that it lowers cholesterol. Lots of yogurts have health labels, too, unfortunately. But I think on the whole, labeling is a good idea. Not sure how it would get implemented fairly and truthfully, though...I see what you mean about how no one wants to pay for it...bunch of lazy bums!
