roxy, penne+peanut+tempeh sounds like a great idea, did you make it yourself?
Yes I did. I posted the recipe in the recipe section. It's my own recipe, I made it up

    Puppy, those lunches look great!!

    Here's my bento for tomorrow:

    Hobo Casserole with cornbread topping.

Salad - romaine lettuce, cucumber, orange pepper, raddish, avocado, mango, cashews, raspberry & toasted pecan dressing.

    Spicy potato chips.

Piece of home-made lemon cake (cut to fit lol)

I'm not sure these count as bento, cause I don't have a fancy box, but here are some of the creations I've taken to work over the last month, usually when I know its gonna be a long day in the office.

    Quinoa Pilaf

    Curry

    Curry with fried tempeh

    Sandwiches and sweet grape risotto

    ???????
Wow, those all look delicious AND healthy!
    vegan and proud.

    Quinoa Pilaf
    いただきます!
That does look very delicious, what exactly is in it?

(I was going to buy a bento box whilst I was in Central London with VF people but I didn't as I was shocked by how small the boxes were.)

thx I think it was just random stirfried veggies mixed into some cooked quinoa. The giant green olives were the best bit though - love those things - very happy now our tesco metro stocks the gaia ones!

Definitely will need to check out the japan centre next time i'm in london - i'm sure they should have giant boxes like the one tsukushi had in hana yori dango

I reheated it. The deli at work have a little microwave that we're allowed to use to reheat our lunches. Unlike the microwave at my old place, this one has to conform to health and safety standards, so it's ALWAYS nice and clean!

I packed my first ever bento lunch today. I made it for my husband as he had to go back to school a day before me. Tomorrow we will both have bentos. It was so much FUN!

Now that I work pretty much from home, I don't tend to make these any more. I miss them actually!

Next time I'm out doing training I'll pack a box and take a photo.

I think the udon noodles and peanut sauce from VWAV might go well in a bento box... *starts planning*

I blog the kids' (and sometimes my husband's) bento lunches: http://disposableaardvarksinc.blogspot.com/ I love the portion control of a traditional bento, and I try to use the japanese 4-3-2-1 rule to keep it nutritionally balanced.

    My dinner today...

    Side-part:
2 steamed Chinese buns (stuffed with mushrooms and some sort of green leafy vegetable)
Raw cauliflower and orange slices for garnish

    Main-part:
Brown rice (seasoned with soy sauce and sesame oil) with cooked carrots and collard greens

    Simple yet delicious.
    Peace, love, and happiness.

Well I've ordered a bento box like Roxy's... am just waiting for it to arrive!!! I have a smaller, 2-tier bento box, the lower tier of which has mysteriously disappeared... I'm hoping to start taking pictures of my food too. Your lunch looks great Tigerlily!

    Thanks guys!

I want to make another bento for my work tomorrow but I'm unsure what to bring. My mom thinks it's funny that I bring my own lunch to work (it's my dad's and uncle's own restaurant).

Three Headed Puppy - how do you stop your avocado from going brown? Is it enough to put lemon juice on it?

Quite a bit of lemon to stop it oxidizing, and the greasy olives does a pretty good job of stops air getting to it all together - and the combination tastes nice!!

Thanks ^^ from what i remember, it was a ratatouille type thing - aubergines, courgetts, mushrooms and peppers, cooked up with a healthy dose of olive oil, balsamic, shoyo and nooch, with some "spinach pasta" (ie normal tasting pasta, but green!), pinenuts and seasame seeds.
I'm pretty sure it was quite tasty - roasted veg is my favourite.
