thanks very much for the info. I have ordered that box too - well it looks the same so i presume it's the same size. will probably get some of those cutters too, they are so cute hehe. (b/f thinks i'm nuts).
I am gonna prepare something for tomorrow, will have to improvise and use lots of small plastic containers until I get my box.

i've just ordered myself a bento box off amazon but one thing i'm wondering.... aren't you all starving.... doesn't look like much food to last a whole day in work (which is what i'm buying it for), i'm hoping to lose weight but afraid i'll be running off down the chippy by 4pm coz i'm hungry lol. any tips?

do you have one dish every 2 hours or something like that? or just eat the whole lot like half way thru the day?

excuse me if i'm being dull...it's a new concept to me.
If I keep a good balance of carbs and fruit (plus a goodie or two), it seems to get me through the day. You can fit a decent amount of pasta, rice or other such niceness in the pot with the lid, and I take carrots, or cherry toms, or fruit.
Or, it could just be that I have adjusted to having a certain amount of food in one day.
If I actually go to work tomorrow (depending on if the school is open), I shall have raw carrots, 2 clementines, cashew nuts, mini breadsticks and some vegan omelette (which I am having for my dinner tonight).

That's what I'm hoping will happen and aid the weight loss. Apparently your stomach stretches (internally not flab lol) and gets used to having a certain amount of food which is why i'm probably always hungry. So hopefully if i reduce my portions then the opposite will happen.
For tomorrow I have packed myself 4 little dishes hopefully of simular size to what will be in my box: 1 vegetable stew, 1 'cheese' salad sandwich, mixture of nuts and japanese rice crackers and a satsuma.

I got a bento box for christmas! but it's not a laptop and the lid just kind of sits on top... I may just be a tab clumsy to handle it... but I've pulled it out of the cupboard to attempt starting to use it. wish me luck.

I'd like to eventually make the cute creative lunches, but for now this is what I have:

clockwise: farfelle w broccoli, corn and black beans. mixed greek olives. wg bread w vegenaise, mixed lettuce and spinch with nut yeast, sunflower seeds, baby carrots. baked tofu and a pickle.

clockwise: pickle. corn w boullion (added hot water). mixed olives. cabbage, sunflower seeds, nut yeast w balsamic vinegar. hot sauced pretzels. veg burger on wg roll. farfelle w beans and corn on fresh spinach. baby carrots.

The theme to this Bento is CARBS. lol
salad with olives, carrots and nutritional yeast, which was put between the 2 slices of whole wheat bread covered in vegenaise (middle) and the barley soup was eaten on the roll.

    veggie rice, banana.
carrots, salad, avocado with lime juice.
chickpea salad. lime and mango pickle.
    Turnip Puree.

obviously in a hurry when I snapped this shot...
veggie rice with nooch, salad covered in sunflower seeds, chickpea salad, and baked tofu covered in nooch.

    Mexichinese:
    cabbage, salsa.
    crunchy taco shells.
refried beans, black beans and hot sauce.
    onions with cilantro.
carrots, sushi rice and sesame seeds.

yeah, i really like it. I do wish it was secured with cloth instead of metal. That way we could choose to only use 1 or 2 boxes at once.

yeah, now that I think about it I guess I could just remove the boxes from the metal piece completely... it's just nice because it hooks around the lid piece to keep it from sliding off.

I feel that I have been neglecting this thread lately. It's not that I haven't been using my bento - it is filled up everyday - but I haven't had time to be that creative. So my lunches this week have been pasta/broccoli/vegan cream cheese with raw carrots, cherry tomatoes, and cashews with sultanas. Not really worth a photo. Next week is another half -term holiday, so not using box. Will attempt to be more creative the week after!

Don't fret! I'm too poor to have fancy lunches. Mine are usually just a sandwich and a vegan cup-o-noodle soup. I put mine in a square plastic lunch box.

You are doing alright for yourself!

    All your bentos look amazing!
I wish I could get a laptop lunch set!
I bring lunches to college everyday but I just use little plastic containers in an upright cooler bag. I'd be afraid a laptop lunch would get wrecked being in my schoolbag, plus it'd be too heavy for me to carry around all day and on the bus

Daffodil - Sorry I never answered your questions, I haven't been on this forum in ages! The cheese and cracker shapes were made from Halloween/Fall cookie cutters that I bought at Michael's, a craft store. And goddess dressing is made by Annie's - http://www.annies.com/an. It's mostly tahini based, with garlic and spices.

I haven't been packing the laptop lunchbox lately cause I just haven't had time during school. And now I'm on a cleanse. But maybe next month I'll be back with pictures!

    Hi there

I am new, but just thought I would share, you can get Bento boxes, cookie cutters, and accessories (small soy sauce bottles etc) on Amazon or ebay, I like ebay because I get get stuff straight from Hong Kong very inexpensively, I am just shopping a new bento box set at the moment since recently moving house I left all my old stuff for my sister.

Oh Amazon also has a lot of vegan chocolate to go in your lunch box

I've read this thread so often... and now that I've started the Eat to Live dietplan i decided to buy a Bentobox as well.

Here's my first attempt (sorry for the bad quality, iphone...)

Clockwise: apple/walnut/spinach soup (from 1,000 vegan recipes), carrots, homemade vanilla soy yoghurt, and spinach/corn/noodle salad with chinese dressing.

It's so much fun to make! I hope I'll get as creative as the other bento makers

edit: oops, something went wrong with photobucket :s the picture is visible now. sorry!

Wow, it's so much fun to eat out of a bento box much better than the usual boring sandwiches. I've made more bento's:

    Wednesday

Clockwise: veggiemix of cauliflower, green beans, roasted pepper and chickpeas in tomato sauce; soy burger; roasted red pepper hummus, cucumber and spinach/tomato salad with balsamic vinegar.

Today's (except for the carrots & tzatziki, i've used recipes from 1,000 Vegan Recipes):

Green beans niçoise; carrots; creamy cauliflower; tofu tzatziki; eggplant & bell pepper salad.

    Tomorrow:

Spinach with olives, sundried tomatoes and roasted pepper salad; baked beans; rhubarb; veg. chicken leg with veganaise and cucumber. (can you see that i've gotten myself a new camera... )

I finally got myself a bento box! In the top part there's a veggie rasher sandwich with houmous, red peppers and spinach and in the bottom I put some black bean quinoa croquettes (from Vegan With A Vengeance) with some brown sauce for dipping in the container and a sliced apple.
