Default does anyone else use soap to wash their fruit?

Or is it just me? I make sure I wash it all off mind. Dont do it with things like lettuce and cabbage and kale but do it with apples and oranges and lemons etc

I've thought about this before (so you're not the only weirdo!).

I saw some special fruit and veg wash in the health food shop and my first reaction was "Blimey, some people will buy anything..." and then I thought about pesticides - and that they must have some waterproof-ing stuff in them otherwise the farmers would have to respray all the fruit and veg everytime it rained or they watered them. And so if the pesticides are waterproof, me rinsing the apples under the tap isn't going to shift it. Hmmm.

I just rinse them under the tap then give them a rub. I never even knew veggie wash type stuff existed, I may get some.

I saw it and thought surely if you rinse well you can just use something soapy to get the oil/wax off. If you buy some can you let us know what is in it please? Wonder if it is even vegan?

I use a brush but no soap. Maybe I'll start using soap.

I buy organic fruit as much as possible. Always organic apples, berries, and bananas. If it's not fruit, like kale and celery, I wash it extra well.

I have seen veggie wash too. I also think you can use some white vinegar in water, maybe, not sure.

I use water at this stage.

I just use water. Sometimes potatoes can be really muddy (especially local ones), so I will use a potato scrubber brush for those if I want to keep the skins on.

Definitely tedious and you have the dilemma don't you - wash it all before you put it in the bowl or just put it in the bowl and then wash it every single time you wanna eat some

Sorry I missed the post below on you using the wash - what is in it exactly?

bottle of liquid similar to a washing up liquid but for food. you squirt some into a sink of water and wash or scrub.
