Imagine that person you know who gets toasted EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. Now imagine a state full of them, and they're thought of as upstanding citizens. We have the highest level of underage drinking, drunk driving deaths, and people here love it because it's so easy for kids to go to bars. Kids get seriously pissed off if refused alcohol, because that never happens.

Sounds like almost every town in the UK

I agree, we do drink a LOT here and seem proud of our national alcoholism

Roxy, I know you were there recently. Is there air pollution/ smog? I here there is in LA, you can even see it, but I have no idea about SF.

    Thanks in advance.
Not any more air pollution than I've noticed in other big cities. There were lots of lovely clear views accross the city without any smog.

I know. I wonder how many kids in America get away with propping up bars at 15, 16, 17 years old. It's taken for normal here.

I'm from Australia, and that's a nation that's VERY proud of it's alcohol consumption. I blame it on the weather

    Seattle!

I really do wish I could live there too. Sadly, amongst other issues, immigration laws mean it can never happen. But such a beautiful little city, and surrounded by the likes of Lake Washington, Mount Rainier, and the Puget Sound. It also has a lot of vegan suitable places, including an all-vegan pizza restaurant.

Maybe not the place to go if you want warm weather. It has the same sort of climate as England - ranging from 32° in winter to 80° in summer, more often than not cloudy, and does not rain as much as people think.

Just looked up an old link, and it seems it comes second on PETA's list of most vegetarian friendly cities. First was Portland, which is only a few hours down the I-5 from there. And Vancouver, an even shorter distance in the opposite direction, tops the list for Canada. It must be a vegan utopia around there!

I must be lucky. Too bad I take it for granted because I am ready to leave Washington in general. I want to explore New York. Maybe Boston.

I'm applying to grad school near Seattle. Hopefully everything will work out. It would be amazing to live near such a vegan and progressive area. I miss the west coast.

Heh, TX is really hot and the humidity makes it worse. But it seems ideal for Klutz, she said she likies 90 degree weather and doesn't mind humidity... Plus the "no snow" rule has narrowed it down to CA/ WA/ OR or hot/ humid states.
I live in Washington and snow thats been here for near two weeks has just melted. We usually get snow once or twice a year (depending on what part you live in) and it usually only lasts only a couple of days. This was surprise snow.

To tell you the truth, I've shut myself in like a hermit for the past 2 days, and I haven't been out once. I'm sure when I get out there tomorrow, that I'll find it's like a big slurpee!

If I had to live anywhere in California it would have to be San fransisco

I just moved here fall and so this is the first snow I've know, so, it was all normal to me and not unusual. But everyone around me was saying it was so much more. But I went in with no expectations of how much. So it didn't bother me.

I think I'd live halfway between New York City and Blue Cliff Monastery (less than an hour's drive from each), so I could work in or near the city and make frequent visits to the monastery.
