Default State of the World 2008

The World Watch Institute, which is very influential with government and media, is having a poll on meat eating and land use.Chapter 5 of their report on meat and fish has a single paragraph stating that plant protein is better, which is a chink that needs enlarging. Please vote

(Poll is on the left-hand side of their web site.)

I went and voted in the poll, 48% of 1300 said we needed to stop consuming meat, so it looks like quite a few others from this forum got on there to :P

Some of the comments were incredible.....

Let me suggest that converting to not eating meat is not only too little to late, it contributes to rapid population increases if the freed up grain gets into the mouths of the starving.

The option to cut out meat has the greatest vote by far.

The stop 'meat/seafood' vote is still the largest at 43%.

I agree that some of the comments on there are insane. A bunch of meat eaters trying to justify eating meat....go them! To us it all sounds like bullshit....literally so I don't know why they bother. Keep the votes going people...get this report updated!!!

Sounds like some of the ridiculous comments form articles I've read like when vegetarians are blamed for deforestation of rainforests for soy plantations.
