Pies-in-face attack roils anarchist-vegan world
Maybe this should be in the News articles threads but I found it bizarre so I'll post it here.
YouTube video of the pie attack is here

Oz Couple Lose Life Savings In Charity Shop
I can't believe the couple that found it will be charged.
surely theft by buying?
they bought the whole thing, it was a contract
they should the return everything they haven't spent and let that be an end to it
If I sink to the bottom I can run to the shore.
Did the couple know they were "buying" the money? Did the vendor know that they were (inadvertantly) "selling" the money? Thought not. So how can it be a contract? Where did the couple think the money had come from, God? Nope. Were they bothered about whom it had come from? Apparently not.
I don't think the couple should get a stiff punishment but I can certainly see why it was a crime. How can I criticize MPs for fiddling if I'm not trying to be a moral person myself?

as the case was bought second hand as a complete item on an as seen basis and in good faith then surely they haven't stolen* anything but rather the old woman gave away the money as a part of the complete item and the charity shop then sold that on. Surely it was the responsibility of the person who gave it away to know what she was giving away before doing so.
All that said they should probably have contacted the charity shop and the police about the money.
*removed from the possession of the owner and deprived them of it on an ongoing basis

How can anyone say that "the old woman gave away the money" when she didn't know the money was there. She thought it was just a case, (as did the purchasers) which in the circumstances seems reasonable. With respect, trying to pin responsibility on this woman, who was after all a victim, does not seem very fair. The couple who bought the case should certainly have contacted the police, after all, what had they got to lose except somebody else's money?
Not sure exactly what the couple have been charged with but I'd hope that your average 'vegan in the street' would, in those circumstances, have behaved with more integrity.

personally everyone was pretty blameless IMO though the couple should of course come forward. Not sure a criminal record is appropriate though.

Pensioner admits having sex with a donkey and a horse
http://www.metro.co.uk/weird/821333-...ey-and-a-horseJoseph Squires appeared at Leicester Crown Court charged with buggery of a donkey between February 2 and February 5, 1999, and buggery of a horse between March 15 and 18, 2004.
He also faced charges of damaging property - relating to the two animals on the same dates.
Squires, whose address was previously given as Overpark Avenue, Leicester, was due to stand trial but pleaded guilty to all four counts at Leicester Crown Court.
Defence counsel Amar Mehta told the court Squires had no previous convictions and was of previous good character.
Requesting that Squires be released on bail, he said: "The defendant does not have a stable address although he says his daughter can provide an address."
Judge Michael Pert QC refused the application and remanded Squires into custody for a pre-sentence report to be prepared. He will be sentenced on May 24.

The top lawyer, his lover and a drug-fuelled sadomasochistic sex session that led to bloodshed at the Hilton
The judge said: 'It is quite clear to me that he wanted you to do things to him such as dripping hot wax on him and that he wanted to do things to you, which you did not want to happen.
'I've seen at least two implements which looked to the untrained eye as medieval torture instruments and not surprisingly you did not want to have pain inflicted upon you.
'I accept that you told him that but he persisted.

You seem to have a flair for spotting these beanstew! It would be interesting to know what sort of plastic arm it was, prosthetic, off a shop window dummy etc. Either way it's lucky it didn't cause an accident - it probably would have if I'd been driving and seen it.
Re the person marrying their cat, I'm sure I heard on the news that among the suggestions for laws that people would like repealed, one suggestion was that they should repeal the law against marrying your horse. Is there a specific law for that?
Well, if a horse can give a written consent...

E-fit of 'lettuce head' burglar defended
The image was issued by Hampshire police to try to trace a distraction burglar who stole £60 from an elderly woman in Stockbridge.
The culprit was described as being about 40 with wavy blonde, slightly greying hair.
However, the e-fit realeased by police has caused much laughter in the town as it showed the man with green hair, which local residents said looked like a lettuce.
Officers have admitted its not the "best quality" and blamed the unusual hair colour on technical problems
