    Default Germany/Alcohol

I am heading to Lichtenfels for a few days next week, and was wondering whether anyone knew what generic lagers or beers you would find in your average bar in Germany that are suitable for vegans

I heard that all German beer is vegan, because of German purity laws. Can someone confirm?

Yeah, just backs up the fact that you don't need to use animal ingredients in the beer making process. Lets move to Germany!!

maybe if we drink enough when we get there, we will get lost, we will be permanantly saturated with vegan beer, and hopefully no-one will ever find us

Sorry E.F, I'm not sure what you mean by this. Could you expand on that a little?

Yeah, I've mentioned this before, not all German beer is necessarily vegan as since the Rheinheitsgebot was repealed it is now legal for any 'food' products to be used in the production of beer in Germany.

And as I've posted before Rheinheitsgebot allows sugar to be used, which as we all know isn't nessecarily vegan:

Aye, I hope so I have a German phrasebook, and it has a sectioned titled 'Chatting Someone Up', so I have been studying that, and how to ask for a large beer Unfortunately I studied French in school, and am finding the German language quite hard, and when practising the phrases I keep dropping in the occasional Sil vous plait or something haha. Oh dear...

mmmm I love that eastern european dark beer! I discovered the "zero degrees" microbrewery a few weeks back in cardiff, who were selling freshly brewed czech dark lager, unfiltered, vegan friendly i believe, it was so nostalgic to drink! Definitely nearer than germany for a nice beer, (I still want to visit germany anyways!!)
