i also like some mushrooms cut in slices. or i go more south France and mix green&red bell peppers with olive oil and herbes de provence (blend of herbs, delicious on almost everything). sometimes i add a few tofu cubes.
you know, it's pretty easy. just turn on the oven, get a few slices of bread, put everything you want on the slices, and bake for a few minutes. it's usually a great way of recycling a "not so fesh but still eatable" bread and leftovers.
Toasted cheezly is best. Though since cheezly doesn't seem to melt I actually find it better to toast the bread, then add the cheezly sliced on top ... I like the JUXTAPOSITION
I've just been given a diabolo toaster and this is the thread I need.
I have tried:
grated apple - simple but yummy
steamed apple - even better
steamed apple and grated carrot - not that great
(my son likes apples, hence the theme)
mexican cheezley with finely chopped jalapenos - lovely
Having read your suggestions I'm off to mash some potatoes and open a tin of pineapples!
Now I've just had chocolate spread and banana - that was good but messy. All I've eaten today is toasted sandwiches - must remember to eat something different tomorrow.

Inspiring!
Just read it out to Helen. I give it ten mins before she asks me to make one.
Erm, is that some kind of double-sided pancake griddle?! Where's the circular bread come from? Such a thing, I think, would be essential for college life.

Yep, I have it on good authority that the Diablo makes you very popular in student houses! I think you just put your sandwich in and rip off the extra bread round the sides.
I feel inspired by all the fillings.
Again, my sandwich machine has been in the cupboard for a while, but will be coming out again soon. My fav fillings are: peanut butter and banana, hummus with tomato chutney, and redwood melty mozzarella, pineapple and mushroom (kind of a pizza thing).
I will be trying the avocado one though. Yummy!!!
One thing I would like to try with one of these things, is a cheesy sauce, mushrooms, broccoli, onions, bell peppers, cilantro, freshly ground black pepper, and some garlic.

sounds a bit wasteful
i haven't used a sandwich toaster for years because they're so bloomin' annoying to clean and i'm lazy.
'The word gorilla was derived from the Greek word Gorillai (a "tribe of hairy women")'
^ Oh now you tell me that there is a better toaster than the Diablo when I just ordered it. I would just rip the edges of the crusts off and dip them in houmous or something.
Well, I only bought this one cause it was cheap and Diablos are twenty quid. Believe me, I will be getting a Diablo next pay day. It's just so damn evil looking
Its a CuisinArt Griddler GR-4. I got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond for $120. I was a long time George Foreman grill user but I wanted something that looked a little nicer in my kitchen.
Its super easy to clean too, just pop off the plates and put them in the dish washer.
Here is one opened all the way up with a grill plate and a griddle plate....
I made these babies the other day.
They are Turkish bread squares cut in half covered in cheezly, tomato and herbs like oregano, chives, and pizza/pasta herb mix. Then I grill them till the cheezly bubbles.
