I read somewhere about a method folk's use on goats, to fuse their two horns together by restricting them with binding frombirth, rather like the methods used in the past on chinese women's feet!

One has to wonder - was it a rare occurence like this, perhaps in a different specie, that fueled the myths about unicorns in the first place? (the Chinese Kirin is quite deer-like, one may note).
