neat, but i hope it isn't reduced to some bourgeois new age fad in the minds of the viewers. it was nice that they emphasized the environmental angle, but i wish they would have placed SOME focus on the actual plight of farm animals.

Good stuff. So CNN is pretty mainstream, right? I wonder how many people would have seen that article.

One of the interviewees, Russell Simmons (?) did mention the animal cruelty angle, among others.

I thought it was quite good but I didn't like the way that chef was chopping his onion - you'd risk getting a lump of finger in your meal

yeah, but kind of as an afterthought. the piece itself didn't give it any attention.

but you have to admit, the animal suffering is generally the part which people are more reluctant to accept. these days its so trendy to be "eco-conscious " & healthy.

having empathy for animals? bah! why the heck!?! theyre just animals!

plus, they would probably get sued by meat people were they to make a big deal of slaughterhouse conditions, animal suffering ect...

It's so strange to me that Russell Simmons is still so highly regarded in his business (rap) which is male dominated.

    He's the man though.

    And yes, CNN is mainstream.

The title of the episode is: "Going Vegan: The Impact to your Health & the Environment." In other words, it's not really about veganism at all. While health and environment are intersecting causes with veganism, they do not define veganism. I like the coverage, but I am going to contact CNN and let them know I am disappointed that they give false coverage of veganism.

Note: Veganism is not merely about "animal-free diet." It's a liberation movement.
