the only animal ingredient in my food is cat hair
lol hello one post personbarrylove
because..its the only way to love myself because i do not contribute to suffering
LOL....hello!
I will try to post more
The answer stays the same , but I do have another one.....
Becasue it MAKES NO SENSE at all to kill another living being to simply make money and satisfy one taste buds. I don't get it..I really don't!
I will be posting an article that a local paper did on me about being in the fitness industry as well as being vegan. It is mainly about being vegan.
You know you are doing better for all
AGREE with AsheeAshee
Because I will not eat anything that has a beating heart and the capacity to love and have babies like we do. (Or as I say to people who ask "Why Vegan?" I just say "I don't eat anything that has a face" x
All of life is a dream walking
All of death is a going home Chinese saying
The people you meet. That's a definite reason to go vegan. The most diverse group of totally insane, hilarious and positive people I have ever met are vegans.
123] Because we should't do to others, what we wouldn't like to be done to us. It's as easy as that.
every animal in the world is one more reason to go vegan!
the aim of life is to live, and to live means to be aware, joyously, dunkenly, serenely, divinely aware.
-henry miller
Because suffering feels the same whether it is inflicted upon me or an animal.
124. Because the livestock industry supports the killing of wild animals that compete (apparently) for food.
There's a Ten Reasons to be Vegan-list here:
http://vegan.volblog.at/?itemid=14591
I didn't see this one listed anywhere here:
101 Reasons Why I'm a Vegetarian
There's now a book as well.
125. Because my family and I don't need to consume animal products to thrive.
context is everything
126. Because animals deserve to be free.
127) Because my body isn't a graveyard.
128) I sleep very sound knowing I'm not contributing to the suffering of others.
129) Because livestock produce more greenhouse gases responsible for global warming than do all forms of transportation combined! It is a combined problem including the cattle's burps, farts, and methane producing manure (over 100 pounds per cow per day!), the deforestation to make land to grow crops for them to eat, and the transportation of their feed all added together.
Other people have already alluded to this (including vegan forum member SBond back in post #35) but now this info comes with a lot more clout since it is not from a vegan organization but rather from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
Making matters even worse, meat production worldwide is expected to double what it is today by the year 2050. Think about that, this major contributer to global warming (currently around 18% will double within our own lifetimes!
The UN's full PDF report, "Livestock's Long Shadow", not just a summary, is found on the top of this page: here.
130.)because carrots turn you orange and orange is the greatest color ever! (not that omnis can't eat carrots but you have to eat a lot for that to happen and I would assume vegans eat more....I don't know I guess....)
131) because your weekly shopping bill goes down (from £30 - £14!)
132) Because veganism is environmentalism and environmentalism protects humans too!
I'm not going to add a number because I'm sure this point has been raised in several different forms but...
It gives you a small but significant feeling of wellbeing to know that far less suffering has occurred in the creation and sourcing of what you eat. To cook a lovely vegan meal for a group of vegetarian and meat eating friends without them even knowing, and when it's discussed after you can casually mention that it is cruelty free.
It's only a start of course, I continually worry about climate change, food miles, human exploitation and reckless consumerism but through an ongoing personal revolution you can be sure you are not contributing in a negative way in our brief chapter on this beautiful planet.
133) you are so much more aware of your body and what it needs and what it cant handle. you listen to your body, not your tastebuds.
(sorry if this has been written already)
'he who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man'
134) Vegans are SEXY!!!
135) Because I can but wouldn't want to imagine the pain it feels should the razor blades slide across my neck and have my blood shed in streams, nor the suffering it bestows should I be imprisoned for the species I have been born into. Should these all happen, I prefer to imagine death.
61. Because my body isn't a graveyard
Plant food has, pound for pound, less embodied energy than meat, so:
136: I can eat more!
137. staying more healthy-both physical and mental.
We must accept finite disappointment, but we must never lose infinite hope. - Martin Luther King, Jr.
The main reason I went Vegan is because over the last couple of years..the one that was always there for me when I was upset or worried was my dog (rip) not a human and for that reason alone should change a persons view on eating me.
Animals are the greatest creatures alive..I want them to stay alive for as long as they possibly can and if I can save some animals from being killed then that would be amazing.I would never lower myself to eat animals ever again because Im worth more then that and so are the animals.
Plus..I feel much happier then I have in years and I believe that is down to becoming a vegan
138. It boosted my self-esteem
Didn't read all, so I apologize if somebody already wrote this:
I can eat raw cake batter and not worry about food poisoning.
I just joined the forum today and became a vegan a couple days ago, loving it! hello everyone x
^Hello
Because all the label reading makes me aware of the many strange things we put in our food.
Because nonhumans animals have no right to suffer for us, in any context. Said before I know, but its true.
Also because you can actually feel like you're in symbiosis with the living world, instead of seperate
It is the only way of living that comes close to an existance that tries, without exception between animal or human, to live without causing harm to either.
We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.
74) because I look hot and I eat all I want
75) because I go to sleep at night next to my dog and husband knowing I havent harmed any of their families
76)because its tattooed on my sternum by my heart
77) because when I wasnt I lost who I was
78) because voilence in the cage is an artform, volience has not part with me in nature
79) because I will not take part in raising animals to kill them
80) because I have seen the atrocities the meat industries does
81) because I love the earth, and its creatures
82) because I still have a conscence
83) because I have respect to all living things...
- Because the benefits are HUGE not only for EVERYONE (except the animal industries)/EVERYTHING, but they also extend to yourself.
- It's probably the COOLEST thing ever to be able to breathe through BOTH nostrils when colds and seasonal allergies are widespread.
74) Because no matter how many reasons an omnivorous person can come up with for eating meat, every one of those can be countered and shown to be flawed.
You guys need to learn to count. :-D
I will not eat anything that walks, swims, flies, runs, skips, hops or crawls.
really nice quote from Franz Kafka: "now I can look at you in peace; I dont eat you anymore."
We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.
Because I have seen the light.
Because animals should enjoy life just like we do.
"If you love animals called pets, why do you eat animals called dinner?" - Farm Sanctuary bumper sticker which I have on my refrigerator. I use this quote on questioning meat eating people that have companion animals all of the time and it usually stops them in their tracks.
Because the animals in factory farms never see the light of day.
Because there are millions of animals being tortured in laboratories.
Because when I see a horse drawn carriage in the middle of traffic in NYC, I look at the horse and I want to cry.
Because when the circus comes to town, I want to scream.
Because when I hear someone hitting their dog because the dog barked at me as I walked by, I feel so bad and tell the creep that "I don't mind that the dog is barking. He is only doing his job."
Because I can stay here all day and list my reasons why people should go vegan.
All about the animals, Lucia
See, I told you. I came right back.
Because I think animals are cool.
Because I think animals are beautiful.
Because cats purr.
Because when I see a happy animal I feel so good inside.
Because I feel liberated every day.
Because not a day goes by that I don't feel sad about all of the animals that are suffering at the hands of human beings.
Because there are more than 101 reasons why people should go vegan.
(I'm sorry Korn for not numbering my reasons, but I don't know which number to start with.)
All about the animals, Lucia
Because vegans taste better. *wink*
Ninja hug! You never saw it coming!
good one RainInStarlight.
I have some more reason why people should go vegan.
Because I move my bowels 3 times a day.
Because it is the right thing to do. After seeing the light, there is no turning back.
Because even in my darket moments, my being vegan makes me happy, even if it is only for a moment or two.
Because animals are not that different than us.
Because I have met so many nice vegans.
Because being vegan supports certain moral and religious issues that I have, which issues I already had before I even heard of the word "vegan".
Because when I turned vegetarian overnight, it took me only 4 months before I went vegan. Giving up eating animals just was not enough.
Because everyday I see the reason why I became vegan in the first place.
All about the animals, Lucia
Because I don't want to die of heart disease.
Because I didn't like feeling sluggish in the mornings.
Because I no longer have the smell of rotting flesh in my house.
Because food stories on the news no longer scare the crap out of me.
Because my "converted muslim" daughter and granddaughter can visit and eat anything in my house.
But mainly because I live surrounded by fields full of animals and I no longer feel guilty when I look at them.
Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet. ~Albert Einstein
hey, for 80 it helps to have better sex? I read about this on the book "For the Vegatarian in You" P30-34 section 7:Vital Juices: Vegetarianism and sexuality.
and I think for me, vegan is good because it is totally consistant with my spiritual believe!!! VEGAN is the way to PEACE, and my dream is world peace one day before I die.
Because I know that I'm doing my part in trying to help the world become a better and more compassionate place.
