This has just bought back too many bad memories of cruelly dashed high expectations.

*Shudder* brought back some bad memories for me too. Yuck yuck yuck.
How did it ever get past the product testing stage!?
I think they counted on vegans having very low expectations of vegan cheese
I think it probably tastes quite good compared to dairy cheese slices
Tried both of these last week. The slices are dry and virtually tasteless, I think they do smell quite like cheese slices though. The spread tastes more like ice-cream than cheese, it's horribly sweet. They should sell it frozen as a Mr Whippy alternative.
yes it is very sweet isnt it, and almost grainy. it took me ages to source these things im so dissappointed!
Now, where are those triangles they promised?

I tried the slices this week as well. Bloody Horrible!
Todays empires, tomorrows ashes...
Just tried the slices, oh what a mistake. YUCK!
The slices are pretty good on burgers, not so great on their own.

Ditto - they were the most exciting offering.
Considering their excellent margarine they majorly failed at cheese production.

I bought a couple of packs the other day.
They do seem to be stocked in supermarkets in the most unlikely areas.

I rather like the cream cheese, i think its yummy on thick granary toast, with a sprinkling of toasted seeds on top. I feel like such a freak now lol

Yeah the slices are good if you put them on other things, much like those made by tofutti. I don't mind the cream cheeze, it's a little sweet but as long as it's complimented with something a little sour (like tomatoes or olives) it's good.
We want triangles though! Meh!
(I've sent them an email)
We all love animals. So why do we call some "pets" and others "dinner?" ~k.d. lang
Oh come on they aren't that bad, most vegan cheeses taste weird unless you combine them with other things
sheeze blue cheese is an exception but generally vegan cheese needs to be on things.
Mind you that's how I felt about cheese before anyway.
If I sink to the bottom I can run to the shore.
The pure cheeses, slices and spread aren't bad cooked on a pizza. But aren't so hot on there own, I prefer the cheezly, but then I never liked the blue sheeze(isle of bute?), so each to there own.
I really want to have a vegan triangle, like the dairylea I used to have as a kiddie!
Ew. I found these a couple of weeks ago, and couldn't even finish one slice. They were awful, simply awful. Even my non-picky husband didn't like them. I don't really dig the Tofutti either, but they are tolerable in a sandwich or something. These Pure slices were vile. Run my good vegans, run!
I got this response to my email asking for the status of the fabled triangles -
"thanks for your enquiry, there are no plans at present to manufacture
triangles but if and when we do we will let you know on the web site. I
hope you continue to enjoy our Pure range"
They make it sound like you are asking a random question!

It's probably not a bad thing - they'd probably be the slices in triange shape, or the cream cheese set up with agar.

Sent an email to Pure because for ages they haven't been stocking the cheese slices in my local Morrisons. Wondered whether they had discontinued the line in the whole makeover thing.
Just received this back:
Hi
At present the Brand Team have decide to improve our Dairy Free Cheese
Range which is why they are unavailable. We would however like to keep
your details on file for when they are available in the future.
Kind Regards

So we might require another taste testing session in the near future!
"You're right, Jackie. The Fonz could beat up Bruce Lee."
I never saw the cheese slices anywhere near me. I wonder if I will do in the future then although judging by the above comments i will have to hope they taste better!
