    Default portion size ratio

hey i just have a little question about the ratio between the 3 foodgroups on a dinnerplate. is it the same as for carnivores i mean the protein amount? or can/should vegans have more protein on their plate because it usually has no fat? confused... ( i tried doing a search but nothing came up)

Omnis eat far too much protein anyway.

I can't say I ever really work it out - just eat stacks of green and red veggies. As long as you are eating whole grains and pulses for the majority of your carbohydrate intake you'll get enough protein from them.

thats not exactly what I meant though, I am not worried about the protein I am just wondering about how much I should eat of every foodgroup. 1/3 protein, 1/3 (whole grain) carbs and 1/3 veggies?

    Hey Berta,

    See: http://www.pcrm.org/health/veginfo/vsk/food_groups.html

    Fruit (21%) & Veg (29%) 50%
    Legumes 14%
    Wholegrains 36%

    Hope this helps

P.S. enter the % into an excel spreadsheet and create a pie chart to get your visual 'plate' representation

Pob makes a lot of sense - why be concerned about portion sizes when you can eat as much as you want of veggies, plus a couple of fruits and some nuts or some pulses without wondering about portion sizes?
