    Lightbulb Opheliac's vegan German Lessons

a.k.a "Opheliac's daily useful phrase if you are a vegan visiting Germany".
    idea by: Clare (clare155).

    Guten Abend everyone!

If you're planning to visit Germany/Austria/Switzerland or if you're just interested in the German language and you want to know some pretty useful phrases you might need there, then you are absolutely in the right place! (:

So, let's start immediately - who needs endless introductions?

The first one is a pretty simple one: "Ich bin Veganer." (I'm a vegan).
Pronunciation: Ee-ch (the "ch": whispered!) bin (like the garbage bin) Vay-gah-nuh.

"Ich bin" means "I am". Most of you probably already know.
If you're a boy/man you can say "Ich bin Veganer",
    BUT
If you're a girl/woman you have to say "~ Veganerin"!
Pronunciation: "~ Vay-gah-nuh-rin (the "rin": like in "rinse")".

You can listen to a wav-file where I've just recorded how to pronounce it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?1kjdjihmzjt
Please not: the wav-file-thing was a pretty spontaneous thing. I improvised. So, that's why I have to add something more to the audio:

If you'd like to say "Ich bin ein Veganer" you have to pronounce it this way:
"Ee-ch bin ine (like "mine" without the "m") Vay-guh-nuh."
The female version would be written this way:
"Ich bin eine Veganerin". (I've already pronounced it in the audio).

You can say either "Ich bin Veganer/in" or "Ich bin ein/e Veganer/in". It doesn't really matter, you can say both. I only think that in the female case the added word "eine" makes it sound a little more alive. Just my opinion. This is not the case when you say "Ich bin Veganer".

Have you all understood what I wrote?
If there are any questions, don't be shy and ask! (:
And if there are any requests - phrases that you think might be useful - post them here. (:

    Tschüss!

Great idea, Opheliac, thanks for that. And welcome to the forum

But I'm confused... why does it say "idea by clare155" at the top if you only just found it, clare155?

    My head is fuddled

that's cute. you should probably include the sentences in Bavarian/Swiss/Austrian accent, though...
