    Default vegan shopping

where do you all get your vegan foods from that are a bit too unusual for the supermarkets?

i normally buy mine from goodness direct online but there's a few things they don't sell. wondering if anyone can recommend a good website for vegan and organic food?

it saves a lot of trips between different supermarkets & health food shops.

Another couple you could look at are www.veggiestuff.com and www.veganstore.co.uk . I have bought from veggiestuff recently and they seemed OK - not bought anything from veganstore for a while but others here have. Unfortunately I don't think there is one site comprehensive enough for you to be able to find everything there.

Apparently it's a water-soluble polysaccharide produced by Sphingomonas elodea. Whatever that means.

Anyone know what type of place to get agar agar from? I tried the local upscale shopping market, but it was to no avail (they just had nori), though they do have several types of vegennaise and vegan ice creams / yogurts. The nearest Whole Foods is something like 30 minutes by car (don't have a car or anyone to drive me), or 30 miles or something. So that's not an option.

I get a lot of mixed stuff from Planet Organic in London- they even do tonnes of raw food products (from raw cakes, raw cocoa butter, raw cacao etc), as well as essentials like toothpaste, moisturiser, vegan condoms etc so they're almost like a mini supermarket with lots of vegan specialist stuff. When I first realised they stocked vegan condoms, I bought a fair few packets of them. Lady at the counter probably thought I was a right dirty mare! haha.
