    Default Hull Vegan(s)!

I'm sure I'm not the only vegan in the city here (well I know I'm not, but curious as to if anyone is local on the forums )
I can only find two decent places to eat, and that's only on weekdays, at the Chance cafe, and at random times at Zoo cafe. Looking to get involved in some vegan / ar stuff in the area, and meeting for coffee / cake is always a good thing

hi, do you go to hitchcocks? Veggie I know but went there a fair bit as a student and sure there were plenty of vegan choice back then? I visit a friend in Beverley pretty regularly, so where are these places you mention if you don't mind me jump[ing on your thread and do they seem child friendly do you know?! Always on the look out for new places to eat across the UK!!! hope you hear from some locals (I;ll watch this thread!!)

I don't mind sharing the thread at all
I've been to Hitchcocks a few times, mostly when I was a student. I like it but find it quite expensive. I quite like Beverley! I love the Sam Smith's Pub there, 'Nelly's' (The White Horse) quite merrily get drunk there, but nothing to eat sadly.

The Chance cafe is based on Chanterlands Avenue in West Hull. It's about a 5 minute drive from the university / 25 min walk roughly. It appears child friendly enough, plenty of seats, etc. Zoo cafe is on Newland Avenue, about 10 minute walk from the University. That is definitely child friendly, there were plenty in on Saturday when I was in for lunch

The only reason I'm on the forums is becuase I did a hull Vegan search on google and this came up...

yay for vegans in 'ull, chance is lovely, I live about 10-15 minutes from it at the moment (soon to increase to 20-25) and regularly shop at grains (which has recently expanded).

I know one vegan who lives in 'ull (and works at chance) and another that lives in 'ull but goes to uni else where.

Hitchcocks is great, I should go more often, I've been a few times, but not recently.
It's not overly expensive, decent quality, well suited for looking after vegans, £10 for students I think it is (and £15 for people who don't drain all the taxes etc. etc.)

I'm not really part of this forum (this is my second post) but I'm always up for meeting other vegans!

I might try to make that, but I'd need a place to stay, however my brother has a geek on the 20th that I hope to go to, so he might put me up for a few nights.

    And philfox:
my pm's aren't working, so if you ever replied to me i never got it.
For some reason I just don't have any access to pm's, sending, receiving, etc.
The admins haven't really got in contact with me about it despite my best efforts, so I'm not sure what to do to tell them, as they've not replied to me.

However my friend on the forum "soy" I believe, has sent an off forum email address to you.

To any veggies here, are any of you at the university of Hull, as there's an attempt to start a society for vegetarians and vegans. We're 4 short of the number we need (the idea is only a week old though, it's mainly about finding more veggies interested).

    Facebook group:

There's a meet up happening in about a weeks time by the looks of things as well.

To sign up for what? The link is for the people who are veggie etc. in Hull.
However there isn't an official society yet if you get me. We need so many people.
Although two other people from another forum have joined as well:P

    Are you on facebook?

If not then I'll try to get the time and place of the meet up this Thursday to you.for some bizarre reason I can't pm or receive pm's because the admin disabled that, and refused to tell me why. I couldn't pm the admin, and apparently I "know what I did" or something, it's all a bit confusing.

    hope that helps

I moved out of Hull a few weeks ago, but I lived there all my life. Up to now obviously haha. I used to buy vegan food from Grain on Newland Avenue and Holland And Barrett. There's that vegetarian cafe in town somewhere near Hepworth's Arcade called Green Ginger as well. I never went there but heard it was really nice.

No, I only went in Grain once because I lived on Greenwood so I didn't go on Newland Avenue except to get my hair cut really. My mum took me in there though and bought me loads of stuff My mum knew the staff I think because I think she knew them on a first name basis kind of thing. I moved to Portsmouth a few weeks ago It made sense really because my mum is from here, so a lot of our family are here, and me and my sister are at uni in Southampton, so it won't take me nearly 8 hours to get home in the holidays now haha.

I'm still in (well near if we are going to be a pedant :P) Hull. Absolutely terrible at following this thread though Green Ginger is amazing, I can't rate it enough.

    Hi,

My names Laura. I'm looking to meet fellow vegans in Hull for socialising and maybe a bit of activism.
