Hejsan!
Tack

Hej! Jag pratar bara lite svenska, so I'll answer you in English
I guess traditional Swedish food isn't very vegan, like most northern European traditional food, but its pretty easy to be vegan in Sweden. I think they have the highest number of vegans per population size in the world, and a really good animal rights movement as well.
You can get soya milk and yoghurt etc in a lot of supermarkets (and vegan caviar in one shop in Stockholm!), but there are a few local goodies, such as Delicato kokosbollar which are amazing chocolate fudge ball things (and you can get them in IKEAs outside Sweden!).
Thanks for replying, Jonny I was actually asking a different thing though: I need to write about a typical swedish dish for homework, and of course I refuse to choose Pytt i panna and things like that, so I was wondering if there are any traditional recipes that are also naturally vegan or that can be easily veganized without changing it completely (by substituting cow milk with soy milk for example, not by making seitan kötbullar)
I wish I lived in Sweden, I'm actually stuck in Italy

Yum.
There's a Swedish restaurant near me called Fika that I really want to try but haven't had a chance yet (I've never had Swedish food but want to!). They serve only one vegetarian dish, but it can be veganized. I'm not sure how authentic it is, but it's called Vegi Planka. The description says "A cocktail of chick peas, mung, butter beans, and winter vegetables," served with "gently grilled home made pressed potato (no dairy) and grilled tomato." It sounds interesting to me, but I'm not sure if it's a traditional dish.
hehe a "planka" is actually VERY traditional...but mungbeans and chickpeas..naaah! LOL
Haha, I figured the mung beans and chickpeas must not be traditional. I'd still like to try it sometime though! (I LOVE chickpeas!)
P.S. Loss, come to London sometime and we can have a forum meet-up there!
nice meet-ups and all =D
Thanks mariana, I definitely will
Please can you write in English? I would like to understand your posts too, and Swedish is not one of the five languages I speak.

Hi.
One Swedish dish you could easily make vegan is "rårakor".
Ingredients
Salt
Pepper
8 potatoes
Some sort of oil of your choise (I prefer rape oil)
Cooking
1. Peel and grate the potatoes to coarse strips.
2. Heat the oil in a pan. Add in 1 / 4 of the grated potatoes. Flatten with a spatula. Fry the "råraka" about 3 minutes on each side, until it is golden brown and slightly crisp. Add salt and pepper.
3. Serve with lingonberry jam (can be bought at your local IKEA).
Cheers // Nolerion
Mmm... sounds great
I think you meant "rapeseed" oil though...
Thanks for posting! (and welcome to the forum!)
