Thread: Cosmetics Animal Testing - R.E.A.C.H.

Default Cosmetics Animal Testing - R.E.A.C.H.

How aware of this are people?

I certainly was completely unaware of it until the new campaign Lush are running.

It's basically a new legislation meaning every ingredient used in cosmetics will have to be tested on animals. Even things used for years that are obviously completely safe, like Lavender essential oil.

Here is the page about it on the Lush website that explains it alot better.

i heard of this a while ago and have been taking part in campaigns against it but they all seem to have been ignored by the EU.

It completely goes against the cosmetics directive where animal testing was meant to be abolished!

Also i do wonder how many vegans really understand animal testing in cosmetics.

There's a big difference between, "This product has not been tested on animals" and "None of the ingredients in this product have been tested on animals".

This has been on the cards for a while now, yet again it's all to do with politicians who have little regard for any life.

I think the BUAV did some good work against this but still not enough, which basically means that yet more animals have to suffer at the hands of humans.

There is nowhere near enough uproar about this. Other than Lush, there aren't really any companies going against this. The Body Shop website does not even mention it.

I'm lucky I don't use as many products as a lot of people. I wonder if we buy enough products now to use for the rest of our lives, will they last?
