Heres the thread to share info on recommended vegan friendly accomodation in the Uk. Making it easier as you go. It could be a bed and breakfast, to a castle. You don't need to have stayed there. It could be a place thats been recommended to you or simply a place you've heard of. It doesn't need to be vegan, but vegan friendly. If its possible to post a link then everyone we'll be laughing.

I've heard good things about Fox Hall Vegan Bed and Breakfast in Sedgwick, Kendal, Cumbria (up north). The menu looks pretty damn good, and the few pictures, perfick.

If coastal and mountain scenery, walking and other outdoor activities, to castles, ancient monuments and beaches, and imaginative vegan food are your thing, then Graianfryn Vegetarian/Vegan Guesthouse will do the job. Graianfryn is on the northern edge of Snowdonia National Park in North Wales.

it's in the middle of nowhere, the friendly couple who run it are vegan and make the most delish vegan food (although they will provide cows' milk for breakfast on request, and they can cook eggs from their rescued hens for your breakfast if you wish, not that we would of course ).

they have a number of rescued animals in the grounds, including hens, goats, rabbits and a pot-bellied pig. it's a gorgeous place to stay and very good value.

There is an accomodation guide called 'Pets Welcome', but you may have to stay at non-Veggie places, though. It does also list self-catering places you can take them, that's what we always do, that way it becomes a vegan AND animal-companion-friendly holiday!
Once we had to take the dog, the rabbit, and the budgies - not v.relaxing in the car on the way!

We stayed in Brambles a few years ago and had a lovely time - as far as I can remember it is run by a completely vegan family (grandparents, parents, adult daughter). There were other veggie establishments nearby including a sandwich bar run by the daughter.

More recently I also stayed in a weird vegetarian hotel in the West Country but I couldn't recommend it - think they may have closed now anyway.

The Granville Hotel on Brighton seafront is onmivorous but will provide vegan breakfasts. they used to have Trogs veggie restaurant beneath the hotel but Trogs moved so they now have their own restaurant, which i presume can provide vegan evening meals.

Nominated Vegetarian Hotel of the Year 2001/02 by The Vegetarian Society, Paskins Town House is a "green" hotel, environmentally friendly and serving organic food (although not entirely veggie). situated in a beautiful conservation area of Brighton and near the busy seafront.

We have booked to stay here over easter, yay! It's a guesthouse sort of place in an old windmill building, mostly veg, apparently the breakfasts have about 6 options, 5 of those veggie and 1 vegan. They also do dinners that are veggie.

We have the damsel room which has a waterbed & jacuzzi! I've always wanted to try a waterbed. And it's near bath, and bristol, and not too far from glasto either, so those are our daytrip destinations!

Just been to visit relatives in Carnforth who have moved house and could not put us up, so we booked 2 nights at Fox Hall (already mentioned, above). Can't tell you much about the surrounding area as was only a flying visit, but it is very close to j36 of the M6, so easy access north to the Lakes or South to Lancaster, etc.

Fox Hall is owned and run by a vegan family and everything on the premises is vegan (food, bedding, washing powder, you get the picture...). You get a choice from the breakfast menu (available to view on-line); I had creamed-mushrooms on toast one day and the full cooked breakfast the other (it was a treat ) and hubby had the cereal, etc. and pancakes. If you want an evening meal, this is an extra £15 each (3 courses and drink), info also on-line. You let Sylvia know in advance what you want and she cooks it for the time you request. I had stuffed pancakes, hubby had chilli bean casserole and we had cheescake for desert (my first since going vegan).

All the food was yum and good sized portions, and it was great knowing you could have whatever you liked and it would be 'safe'. Sylvia was charming and very helpful. I can thoroughly recommend it (but no pets I'm afraid ).

Can also recommend Six Mary's Place in Edinburgh. Stayed there for a couple of nights last Summer and really liked it. Is a bit of a walk from Princes Street, but not too far. Also quite near the botanical gardens.

As a B&B it is all vegetarian (although they do cater for omnis when putting on conferences) and vegan breakfast is available (warn them in advance), including soya milk and spread and full cooked breakfast including vegan haggis .

The building dates from 1829 and has been symapthetically renovated, with modern touches amongst the original features. It was a beautiful building - I would love to be able to own somewhere like that!

Also, and I apologise if I get this wrong as I cannot see any details on their website, the owners are/work with a charity (that has other establishments in Edinburgh as well) for those with, I think, learning difficulties and most of the staff employed at the hotel are 'clients' (and could teach many other staff in this sector a thing or two about good service).

Again, thoroughly recommended - saving up to go back!

hey can anyone recommend what to go and see when we are in that area? I was thinking to spend a day in glasto, a day in bath, maybe a day in bristol (but maybe not if we have a day in bradford, will see!!)... We were going to do Bath tommorrow (good friday) but the park and ride is closed and so I assume parking might be a bit of a mare (never been there but I hear it's hard to drive around anyway). So I thought maybe glasto, but I'm not sure if I'll find enough there to interest us. probably, but what if not??! and we have to make it last a whole day. I like looking in crafty shops and eating in cafes (although haven't tried that since going vegan). Walking around on foot is nice too but I don't like going toooooo far

I did ring up glasto tourist info and they said most of the tourist shops should be open on the public holidays. I did rather want to go to bath though, but then not if I'll be stressed finding parking. I haven't been driving for that long and I do get stressed easily!!

I just got back from over there. In Bath, go to the Porter Cellar bar, on George St. It's a veggie pub with lots of vegan options on the menu. Great food, great beers.

I don't know about a place to stay there, but at least you can get great food!

Was the one you found Cornmill Lodge? Their site implies they do one-nght stays but unfortunately at busy times (like weekends) a lot of B&Bs seem to impose a two-night minimum. (Perhaps you could buy it and change the rules http://www.businessesforsale.com/Yor...-For-Sale.aspx)

I looked in the back of a couple of old Vegan Society and Vegetarian Society mags and couldn't see any relevant ads. There do seem to be a number of conventional B&Bs touting their ability to provide vegetarian breakfasts if all else fails...

We stayed at http://www.veggiebarn.net/ The Barn last summer - with our dog - and had a wonderful time. It's about 20 minutes from Southampton, perfect for the New Forest, Lymington and the Hampshire/Dorset coast.

The food was amazing - vegan Barnstormer Breakfast in particular - just what you need to set you up for a day tramping through the New Forest. Can't recommend it highly enough.

We stayed overnight at the Travelodge on the Hinckley Road in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, on Monday evening.

This was our first time staying at a Travelodge. The room was clean, the bed comfy and the staff courteous. We'd booked a non-smoking room.

A Travelodge is accommodation only so no problems as long as you ignore the little pots of long-life milk on the hospitality tray and probably the small bar of soap provided in the bathroom.

We'd packed the cafetiere, teapot, coffee, tea and lemon so no problems making a drink just as we like it Took fruit, yogs, etc., in a cool box for snacks.

Food? There's a Harvester restaurant next door to the Travelodge but the menu doesn't offer vegans much more than the ubiquitous chips and salad option. We met up with family at AYCE B's in Nuneaton, a Chinese buffet restaurant that does have vegan options and enjoyed a lovely meal there.

We'll definitely be using Travelodge again later this year when we're planning to go away for a few days.
