We contacted them, and will be welcoming 5 hens to our home on the 6th June. Wish we could help more.

That's good pusskins. Have you had hens before? I'd love to have some if I could offer them a suitable "lifestyle".

That's wonderful Pusskins. If only we had a garden we would have some too.

No, not had hens before It was something we had been thinking about for quite a while and, as we have now moved in to a larger house with a larger, contained garden, we thought now would be a good a time as any! We are very excited about it, and so happy we could help

Aww i'd love me some hens, i really would but we're moving house soon so not a good time to get involved (unfortunately!!!). I read about how to look after them a while ago though, on a site i think was called Battery Hen Welfare Trust - it seemed easier than i thought it would be. I'm not sure those Igloo houses are big enough really but i guess you could just let them wander round the garden most of the day if it's secure?

Good luck to anyone who can help, though - put pics up

Got our hens today! The earlier date was fully booked, so we had to be patient! Here are a few first photos of them arriving to their new home...

    - Food and water at the ready in their new home!

    - First out!

They've already laid an egg! So we boiled it, mashed it up including shell, mixed it with some layers mash and fed it back to them. They cleared the bowl! The girls need as much calcium as they can get. This was something we were advised to do by http://www.farmsanctuary.org/, as originally mentioned by somebody on here.

I'm so glad chickens are quite easy to rehabilitate...they deserve a second chance...they are really clever as well...I was watching an education programme and they taught the chickens how to eat from these spesh dishes and so on by showing them a video of how other chickens do it!!!
