Has anybody else noticed the change in Holland and Barrett's Natural Soya Protein Chunks?
    http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pag...65&prodid=3668

Despite the same packaging and cooking /preparation instructions they now require no soaking at all and go all horrible and spongey even with the most minimal of cooking.

Does anybody know of any alternatives that are more in line with their previous product?
Hi SG, I have never used Holland and Barrett brand tvp but I find it surprising that dried tvp chunks don't need soaking. Is there a change to the recipe?

The recipe that I use? No, not at all, but the cooking instructions on the pack are the same. On the new ones they still say to soak them, but in reality it really isn't necessary.

The brand is the same, the packaging is the same, the instructions are the same but the product is way inferior now compared to a few months ago. It really is very noticeable to anyone who uses them.

I'm just looking for an alternative now.

I was wondering more about the formulation of the tvp itself but you say that it is the same as it was before. That is very strange indeed.

Oh, I posted in another thread that H&B now stock Booja Booja ice cream as well as the superb Clive's Pies.

Usually an offer on if you time it right.
