Default Help, recipes needed for a friend.

Hello, A friend came to me last night asking for advice. Her skin is bad and she saw a nutrionalist who has told her (for 2 months) to go vegan, wheat and yeast free, no mushrooms,no cashews and 75%raw, but she has candida and has been told not too much fruit, only in the morning. She is already veggie. She's doing total detox for three days on just green juices but after that she's need recipes. She's also been told to have brussel sprout shakes yuk! I've only dabbeled in raw so really need some recipes for her if you can help? She doesn't have a dehydrator so needs to be easy to start with stuff. Hubby and I think we should give this another go ourselves too so please inspire me!(Also very pleased to hear professionals recommending raw vegan diet!) Thanks!!!

Brussel sprout shakes??? Gag!!! If that's really what's she's supposed to have, tell her to start slowly, and add other ingredients such as bananas.

Maybe two bananas, a few leaves of spinach and 1 or 2 sprouts to begin with, with enough water to give the right consistency? Then she can slowly increase the sprout intake...

(Is the nutritionist sure about that point??)

Will get my thinking cap on for the rest

Hi fiamma, Yes I had to double check myself it wasn't just sprouts but she means brussels. She has to eat lots of green. I like sprouts but raw....not so sure. Thanks for any ideas you come up with! I think soups would be good as its familiar.

i'd recommend your friend reading victoria boutenko's 'green for life' book, little miss. its very informative and has some really good green smoothie/juice recipes in it.

she can order it through the library service.

Salads, and raw veggie sticks (carrot, pepper, celery etc.) dipped in hummus, tofu and sun-dried tomato dip, or just vinegar and olive oil.

Have you checked out the raw subforum for ideas?

I very much recommend Kate Wood's book "Eat Smart Eat Raw" - lots of ordinary ingredients easy to find in Britain

HI, Thanx for all the suggestions, I went on the sites and pasted a couple of recipes for her as ideas and rough ideas to inspire her. My library seems to have nothing on raw food, which is a shame as its a big library. She's got so many foods she cant eat or is limited for its quite strict, no mushrooms, only 1 avacado a day, not much tomato's, pepper or aubergine....I think I'd go a little mad.
I plan to do some raw soups as its getting colder its not a great time for salads but definatly going to introduce a bit more to our diet.
