Default The Daily Mail on Stephen Gately

It is not often I get upset by the Dail Wail as I know it is full of hateful poisonous bile and isn't worth bothering but this nasty little piece on Stephen Gately's death is low even for them. Charlie Brooker has something say on the matter as does Stephen Fry.

The Press Complaints Commision site is still down. Looks like quite a crap storm brewing.

What's the point of publishing something like that, even for an audience of bigots?

Possibly they will be hoist with their own petard on this one as it seems to have upset some advertisers, I was reading.

Completely offensive wasn't it. I read about it on Veggieboards.

I read there is a campaign on FB and Twitter but I'm not on either.

What the rubbery fuck was that about! They swung from he is a closet junkie to homosexuals can not be anything but perverts with no rights to marriage. I knew they were a bunch of twats but....
How can anyone read that drivell and not check to see the world has not gone back to 1950's Britain.

Is it wrong to wish a long, painful death to an entire newspaper's team?

    No, I think it's justified.

My m-in-l reads it too. I have pointed out its defects but I'm not sure what more I can do (other than setting fire to it while she's reading it, but that would be wrong wouldn't it?).

She isn't actually as illiberal as you would expect a Mail reader to be. It seems to be more a habit

I am one of the many, many that complained about the article. It is utter cack and needs to be treated as such. I'm going to be spending a lot of time going through their hate filled articles and making formal complaints about them.

It's for the individual to answer. Speaking personally, I'd feel it wrong for me as a vegan to wish that fate on any human animal or animal. Bitterness and hatred are not why I became and still am, a vegan.

I can agree that the article is disgraceful and lacks an iota of compassion.

Sorry, the humour of the situation passed me by. Maybe it's a generational thing.

It is not a generational issue. I have to find a dark and twisted humour in most things. If I did not I would have a breakdown. Spend most of your day listening to the stories of hell some people go through like I do and it means you either have a very dark humour or get so fucked up you are useless for anything but crying.

The piece was so disgusting and it deserved the complaints. I hope that woman gets fired.
