    Default swedish glace

My eyes nearly popped out whilst shopping at Sainsbury's yesterday. Swedish Glace have brought out neapolitana ice cream! strawberry, vanilla and chocolate all in one box. Was very happy and wanted to let you all know too.

Downside is that the flavours are "cheaper" versions of the individual tubs. No vanilla bits in the vanilla section, no chocolate bits in the chocolate section.

I have to say I've never noticed 'bits' of chocolate or vanilla in the single flavour tubs.

Black dots of vanilla pod, and tiny flakes of chocolate. They weren't like that a couple of years ago, so I presume they improved the recipe. They're much more like premium ice cream now, but the neapolitan is like cheap neapolitan.

I sprinkle Green and Blacks cocoa powder and ground coffee on my ice cream for extra goodness. Maple syrup is good too.

Mmmm. I could really go some ice cream now but don't have any so will have to have some wine instead.

I've got into a bad habit recently of having: a hunk of vanilla Swedish Glace, a huny of raspberry ripple, a load of sliced bananas, agave syrup, chopped nuts and hundreds and thousands, and a cup of cocoa...every night...

    Oh god, ice cream...
I hardly ever have this any more because I gain weight very, very easily and I've probably put on a few pounds just reading this thread... but on the occasions when I have indulged, I have to say that vanilla or chocolate ice cream with broken up bourbon biscuits, covered in chocolate syrup and chocolate flakes is just heavenly!
The vanilla one also works a treat in a pancake with some fresh strawberries or raspberries and some maple syrup.
They did reformulate the recipes a while back. I was disappointed because the fat content went up quite a bit and I didn't think they tasted any better for it. So it went from an occasional treat to something I only ate at other people's houses (to stop me eating the whole tub). Ice cream shouldn't be a health food, but their old versions were less sinful and still tasted just fine to me!
Oh, and I no longer see the mocha flavour (which I used to buy from the local health food shop), but it was definitely the best of them all. Creamy coffee ice cream with a decadent chocolate swirl. If they ever brought that one back, I'd consider it well worth getting fat for!

Chocolate or Vanilla glace from Sainsburys. Crush some of their vegan ginger snaps over the top. Eat until you pass out. Job done.

A winning formula but I'd have to add some chocolate sauce.

Can anyone confirm if the tubs are recyclable? Mine are reproducing at a ridiculous rate!

Choc Daddy's gonna get the snip.

Already use them to store food / freeze leftovers etc, but both my cupboards and freezer can't take much more. Sorry if being useless and haven't searched enough.

Not sure, Gwydion. We tend to keep ours in the cupboard and fridge for leftovers and lunch too

We got chocolate from H&B the other day, and it was lovely! Especially when you combine with G&B's chocolate and a banana. The Tesco next door only stocks vanilla, so was nice to have somethign different.

FYI - I just saw this cheesecake in my local shop. It looks good, but it's not marked vegan at all.
Also, it's "in association with swedish glade" (whatever that means) so it's not made by them. The Heaven Foods website is not up and I can't find any other site with information.
Note that it's not marked vegan on goodness direct either, and their normally pretty reliable as an indicator.

Risker I was born with very short fingers on one of my hand due to a condition called Symbrachydactyly and while I am extremely proud of my lovely little fingers your avatar resonates with me in a negative way because it suggests that to have little fingers or no fingers is something negative when in fact physical diversity is something beautiful. What is the significance of the avatar to you?

Tee hee. Pounded yarn sounds a bit indigestible, and not necessarily vegan, but if it's yam the outlook seems good.

Good enough you'd put back the tub afterwards and not have any more? I know it wasn't for me! Serving sizes are evil.
