Default 13-year-old vegan boy cycles 20 miles for the animals

Hi, a vegan website EVOLVE! Campaigns has a page on vegan parenting. http://www.evolvecampaigns.org.uk/parenting.asp

Their youth contact, the 13 year old vegan boy, Chris is going to cycle for 20 miles to raise fund for an animal sanctuary in Hawaii, here is a youtube clip on this. It is a row footage by volunteers of Supreme Master TV for their news report, which will be aired on a later date:

    Information on the event:
Chris is the 13 year old youth co-ordinator for EVOLVE! Campaigns. On April 25th he will be cycling 20 miles to raise money for Love The Animals Sanctuary. Please sponsor him!

Love The Animals is a Free Information Education Center and Animal Protection Sanctuary located on the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii. It is run single-handedly by Marasia who is currently caring for over 140 rescued and adopted animal-individual friends, including cows, goats, ex-battery hens, dogs, cats, rabbits, chinchillas, guinea pigs, rats and more! He relies solely on the generosity of the public to keep Love The Animals going. Marasia has been vegan for a number of years and feels that caring for these animals is his calling in life. He has dreams to open a large animal and educational park where people can come and interact with the animals and learn to connect with them so that their perspective is altered and they realise that animals should not be harmed, exploited, eaten etc. EVOLVE! Campaigns have been working with him since his first rescue over three years ago - Rolanda fundraises and also runs his Myspace and Facebook pages. Chris wanted to help by doing this sponsored bike ride because he has seen Love The Animals grow, and often struggle financially, as more and more needy animals join the family.

Update: Now Chris Is Even Sponsoring Himself!

Thank you so much to all the generous people who have so far contributed to Chris's ride - he is extremely grateful, happy and excited about it, but he's not content yet, he still want to raise lots more for the animals!

Chris has been out and about around the area we live this weekend cleaning cars with his friend to earn some extra pocket money - he managed to make £17.50 (around $27) - but today he decided to add it to the sponsorship money he has received so far to help get closer to his target of $1000!

Please help him achieve his target (and MORE!) by continuing to share details of his bike ride for Love The Animals Sanctuary. We have less than a week to go before THE BIG DAY!

Supreme Master Television will not be able to screen his story before he does the ride and so will be there on the day to film him setting off, on his way, and at the finish line! Then the whole report will be edited and screened in a couple of weeks time. We look forward to posting the video!

Chris says a massive thank you to the following people for their contributions:

Adele Maria, Joanne Ehret, Ali Pink (again), David Fricker, Sylvi Wale and Sharon Howe!

Total so far (including Chris's own contribution) is: $717.91

Hi, I haven't check the exchange rate between UDS and English pounds, what I tried is just fill in the amount as UDS, the system is supposed to be able to work it out from your pound accout.

Here I copied from the website, it is talking about PayPal though:http://chipin.helpserve.com/index.ph...leid=148&nav=0

Which currencies can I use to contribute?

There are many payment options available for international currencies, which PayPal will automatically convert to US Dollars for ChipIn organizers. To view a listing of currencies accepted by PayPal, click here.

    Hope this is helpful.

Tomorrow it's the BIG DAY - please keep the support going!

One of our dear friends - Megan - has not only generously sponsored Chris's bike ride but has also made this lovely banner in support of Chris and Love The Animals Sanctuary. Megan herself has LOTS of rescued animals including a large brood of cats and dogs as well as bunnies, guinea pigs and fish!

Some of her doggies are supporting Chris in these pics below!

Thank you so much Megan and all your beautiful animals!!

Thanks also to yesterday's two wonderful donaters who sent sponsorship and cheered us all up so much because we thought fundraising had dried up: Gwendoline Ware (no relation!) and Susan Mahler.

Total raised so far is now: $1340.65

TODAY'S the day! But sponsorship is still open - don't stop now!

A BIG thank you to ALL the people who have supported Chris. He is so happy and excited to be raising funds for Love The Animals Sanctuary and still hopes to raise more DURING Sunday!

He is really, really hoping for a BIG surprise when he gets back home this afternoon after all that effort - in the form of some last minute sponsorship donations for the animals! Please, please help make this happen by sharing this page with your friends so that everyone sees it! Chris wants to reach his target of $2000 SO much!!

Thanks so much to Joanne Ehret for generously donating again! Plus many thanks to David Fricker (again) and Martin Fox for their sponsorship.

Total raised so far is $1460.61

    THE DAY: FROM http://lovetheanimals.chipin.com/myp...ba64b508213412

Seems a BMX bike is most definitely NOT a good bike to do so many miles on!! Chris's little legs have been peddling like crazy and his backside is well and truly numb but he managed to do the whole 20 miles, plus another 4 as he cycled from home to the Quayside before he started!

    Here's the day in pictures:

About to start at Exeter Quayside, with a thumbs up and a smile!

An interview with Supreme Master TV who have given so much support!

Proud stepdad James posing with Chris - he's doing the ride too, to keep Chris company and to make sure he's ok, even though he has a bad knee injury from his youth (4 ruptured ligaments) and hasn't done anything this strenuous on his knee in years and years...

The halfway point - Starcross, 10 miles into the ride... one of them over very bumpy terrain... Chris says to me, in reference to his already numb backside: "Mum, I want a new bike after this!"

The boys return on the other side of the river after managing to complete the ride in just under 3 hours

Chris says he feels very tired, his back aches and his bottom is numb!

James says he's fine, strong as an ox... after all, he is vegan!

A well deserved mango sorbet for the fundraiser extraordinaire!

Thank you to Qian Wang (again), Juliet Doggett, Patricia Noon and Pearl Huang for their sponsorship donations!

The fundraising total for Love The Animals Sanctuary currently stands at $1528.75

    WELL DONE CHRIS!!!!

A note from Marasia from Love The Animals Sanctuary:

"There is no doubt that Chris's 20 mile bike ride campaign will absolutely be saving Love the Animals Sanctuary from collapse. After a few weeks of financial struggle we are still climbing our way out of a hole. The money raised by Chris is coming at such a time that without it we probably couldn't continue, or we would have a serious struggle to attempt to. I don't know how it would be done without Chris's campaign, and I am glad we don't have to face that dilemna. I am surprised, but in a way not surprised - honored really - and inspired, that it is going to be a thirteen year old boy who saves Love The Animals from a collapse. It's not just about the money either, it's the act of great caring that is truly amazing and helps us continue the work we do, to see so many care, and to see a child on the other side of the world acting with such compassion.

I sincerely would like to thank Chris and EVOLVE! Campaigns, and all those who have sponsored him for saving the day and helping to take Love The Animals over the bumps to the next phase of its work. Chris has accomplished a beautiful and unique act of great love and compassion and financial support for the lovable animals of Love The Animals. I hope that as he rode his bike today, he realized that he is saving Love The Animals Sanctuary, and in doing that, he is helping so many animals who are with us now, and who will need to be with us in the future." ~ Marasia

Sponsorship is still open... we'd still like Chris to reach his target!

Thanks so much to Carrie Craig and Rachel Simpson who have sent in sponsorship donations after Chris has completed the ride. It's so nice to see his efforts being recognised!

The fundraising total for Love The Animals Sanctuary currently stands at $1551.20
