Just make sure they say 'now more fruity' on the front as there are still a few old packets floating around.

When I said I got lemon ones along with the 'original' jammy ones.........I meant original in the sense of them being jam and not lemon..........I made sure they were the vegan ones though!

I wish I'd found this out a week sooner as I've just had a brace fitted and I doubt I'll be able to eat any for the next two years (by which time they may have chanced the recipe back!) My other half is very grateful for the tip though and has already eaten half a pack!

They're 2 for 1 in the Co-op at the moment. And the jam doughnuts are buy one get one half price. My colleagues were delighted at my generosity - I didn't tell them that I'd just thought better of eating two packets of biscuits and two bags of doughnuts single handedly.

After a couple of months you'll be surprised what you can eat with a brace on....

can't quite get my head round the concept of a lemon Jammie Dodger, but me thinks I will be asking Hubby to pop into the Co-op on the way home.

We got a 3 pack of Jammie Doggers for 99p in the 99p shop. The outer wrapper had the old ingredients listed, but the packs inside are the new vegan recipe.

I bought a packet of both the lemon and the original ones. I couldn't remember if I liked them or not so I thought I'd give them a try.
Lets just say that I managed to polish off both packets in a single sitting

WHAT an exciting wee shopping trip I just had!

So, I had to go to the local Co-op to pick up some bits and bobs. Saw they had Original JDs on BOGOF. Think they were 99p a pack. I'll take that! I thought to myself. Need some consolation for being unable to pick up the new Choc ones!

I then had to pop in to the Tesco Express a few doors down to pick up some caffeine free cola, as the Co-op had none and that's our Friday night treat. I thought I'd chance it and went straight to the biscuit aisle. They had JDs. The label said BOGOF Original, Toffee and Choc. But NO Choc on the shelf!!! Boo! I thought, though, that maybe they were on the end of an aisle or something. SO! I traipse all the way around the Express - nothing. Head to the self-checkout. Pay for the cola. Heave my heavy bags over my shoulders, head to the exit...

AND NEXT TO THE EXIT was a massive display of these new JDs! £1.20 a pack, mind. But on BOGOF. So I grab 4 of the Choc version and head back round to the self-checkout, huffing and puffing with my bags. I must have looked mad.

But now I have a stocked larder! Taste test will commence later this evening

    Here endeth the saga.

We've just had 1 each, with great ceremony. The whole intertwining of arms a la wedding champagne sorta thing...!

They are like bourbons. They are very nice! I can see large plates with Original, Lemon and Choc artfully arranged like colourful swirls... (this is me planning the buffet for my upcoming birthday party)

That's alright! I was a bit confused, as the only David I know last had a cake from me about a year ago But the challenge is set for the Dodgers! Especially as my current lined up challenge is to replicate a Tunnock's Teacake

So one packet is already finished. They are lovely and more-ish.

And yes, I took a photo.

Hi just wondering i got a pack of Jammie Dodgers and on the back it has "may contain milk" and a quick look on the burton biscuits site does not highlight them as vegan. i had a look at the ingrediants and appear fine. Is this a cause of company's production methods rendereing items not labelled vegan due to the possiblity of cross contamination and there fear of being sued. Was just checking if i had the the same type as others or is this a new batch.

As I understand it, the may contain traces statement is to cover their backs in case of allergies because they're made in the same factory or on the same line as milk-containing items. My packet has the same warning.

I think you have the new pack, I don't think the Burtons site has been updated recently, but the old packs used to say Contains Milk, but they have changed back to an older recipe that does not use it. The packs of Mini Jammie Dodgers are not Vegan (yet)

I emailed Burtons foods to make sure that these are definitely Vegan, this is the response I got back:

"Thank you for your email regarding our Jammie Dodgers.

Jammie Dodgers do not contain whey powder in the biscuit base. However other products are made on the same line which do contain milk components: whey powder and whole milk powder, which are in the form of a baked biscuit or custard type filling. Although the line is cleaned between product changes, it is not possible to guarantee that no allergenic residue remains and for that reason we declare 'may contain' on the packaging.

Thank you once again for showing an interest in our products and we hope the above information is of some use to you."

Which IMO means they are Vegan but they wont admit it, in case there is a trace of milk and they get in trouble.
