I tried curry for the first time today....I'm not sure how I feel about it....It was a frozen meal from Trader Joes...so maybe if I make it at home i'll like it better? but it was definately weird....

OMG, homemade curry or restaurant curry (from an Indian restaurant) is WAYYY BETTER. Look up potato curry recipes, I love me some potato curry!

Curry is awesome, oh so tasty. Definitely get down to an Indian restaurant or make some yourself.
I also love creamy red lentil curry, OMG.
Peace, love, and happiness.
I bought a cheezly selection pack today. I thought we could have it at christmas on crackers for when the sickness of overindulgence from dinner wears off and we feel it necessary to force more food into ourselves - because if you don't feel sick at christmas you're doing it wrong.
Anyway, I thought I'd better test it out in advance to make sure it was ok.
There are three 'cheeses' in the box, smoked, blue and pepper jack. The smoked is nasty, the blue is horrible, the pepper jack however is horrible but with chillies in.
I don't know what I was expecting, I hate cheezly.
Okay, I'm cheating, as I have not tried this yet. But I'm going to! We bought kasha (roasted buckwheat groats) for the first time yesterday, and will be trying it for the first time sometime within the next week or two.
Pickled watermelon rinds.
Kind of like very sweet pickled gherkins (cucumbers). I found the recipe on Oprah's website of all places. The recipe is here: http://www.oprah.com/food/Citrus-and...atermelon-Rind . I'm going to put it in a salad with watercress and pecans.
Gherkins are good
I haven't eaten yet today, but it will probably be some toast
Cool, thanks. Maybe I'll give that a shot sometime...
Ooh, did you notice where they got the recipe from? Says at the bottom:
"This recipe was adapted from Vegan Soul Kitchen, by Bryant Terry (Da Capo)."
Yes, I was searching for Bryant Terry recipes when I found it. I'm asking for Vegan Soul Kitchen for Christmas.
I had the vegan hot dogs from Tofutti yesterday for the first time. I'm going to have to experiment with different brands until I find one I really like. These drove me nuts, because it was hard to break them apart in the package. That being said the Tofutti American style cheese works well in a toasted sandwich.

Ooh, I loove Tofutti American cheese slices. That with some pickles, ketchup, mustard, on top of a soy burger? Yummm.
Sweet & Sara rocky road bark. omnom
Each snowflake in an avalanche pleads not guilty.
Mmm, I've never had that, but I'm planning on making dark chocolate bark with mint candy pieces in it to give out as Christmas gifts. That and possibly some lemon lime vegan cheesecakes (new recipe I've not tried yet, made with silken tofu, which I've also not cooked/baked with yet - trying lots of new things lately!).
Macadamia milk. Its quite quite thick and creamy but the macadamia taste is one that most likely has to be aquired. In sweetened liquid form anyway!
Houmous atá ann!
that sounds awesome!

mac n cheese!!! albeit too much mustard (and missing ingredients) but it satisfys the craving, especially if i hold my nose while i eat it
i went for a drive and wandered into a health food store (very hard to find one near me) and found nutritional yeaaaaast!!

I love the tofutti slices! They're the only cheese substitute (apart from parmazano, which is more of a powder) that I've actually liked. I tried cheezely ages ago and I thought it was vile.
Yesterday for the first time I tried the chilled alpro chocolate milk and I totally loved it. The whole carton is nearly gone! It's funny because I don't like the chocolate milk they do in the UHT cartons, but the chilled is completely different.

I tried vegan chocolate today and it's so good i love dark chocolate with almonds in it. yum

I made and then ate almond 'feta' spread (didn't bother drizzling oil over it, and cut the salt down to less than a tsp). I would make and eat this again!

Also, dark chocolate with almonds... *drools*

Missbettie: I have been meaning to make Thai Green curry! I have the curry paste and the coconut milk (lite), but I am afraid of messing it up Did you use tofu?
Collengirl95: I use carob chips in place of chocolate chips because of the transfat and saturated fat content. I must say they are delish. I put them in my oatmeal and mixed in with dark cherries as a pick-me-up.
The strangest thing I've tried lately is a no-oil microwaved coffee-cake in a cup. Its super low cal, virtually fat-free and has so much fiber and carob (choco) goodness!!
^How would I go about making such a thing?

RubyDuby, are you referring to my no-oil microwaved chocolate coffee cake in a cup? ^-^
"i'm rejecting my reflection, cause i hate the way it judges me."
I actually attempted to make thai green curry last week, but I used plain unsweetened soy milk instead of coconut milk and it turned out disgusting. I had to throw it away. I bought tofu noodles this weekend, so I am thinking I am going to marinate my tofu squares then bake them before putting them into my curry. Also, I think it's important to make sure it's not to liquidy before you add the tofu because it can come out gooey and gross.
I've never had spaghetti-o's...but I've made vegan ravioli and eggplant lasagna. Threw away half though....I made too much
I tried Nabisco nutter butter bites today - they are gorgeous!
Yesterday I went to a friends house for dinner and they cooked me authentic Burmese food - it was delicious! We had aubergine, bean and beansprout in a ginger, soy and sesame oil sauce, veg and potato curry, tomato and coriander and pureed sweetcorn which had been fried. Amazing!

cacao nibs
yum
gonna make a raw cake with them later.
The recipe was simple and delicious. Perfect for the chocolate fix and free of temptation because it's only one serving. No extra helpings in this one.
Ingredients:
4 tbsp flour (I used whole wheat)
5 tsp sugar (I used stevia in the raw)
1/2 tsp baking powder (I used aluminum free)
2 1/2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
3-4 tbsp non-dairy milk (I used vanilla Silk Light....but any milk works)
1 tsp vanilla extract (I used two)
Mix ingredients in a large mug (a regular coffee cup)
mix until its a thick texture
microwave for about a minute (1:30 mins to be exact)
Top with berries and enjoy with almond or soy milk
I have also used vegan carob chips in the mixture! Topped with dark cherries....YUM!

oh yeah, I think I've seen someone post something like that before. Will definitely be trying this.

There really isn't much involved in this and it's a pretty satisfying treat Good luck making it!
