There's only nine in a packet think of those nutritious brazils nuts and the people you'd be supporting, go on share a pack with some chums!
No im not listening laaa laaaMozbee
Make sure you've got plenty of factor 60 suncream on then!
OOOh, yum, I like Brazils too, but you get a bad one and the off taste stays in your mouth for ages, that's the only trouble with nuts!

Booja booja hazelnut crunch rochers are my favourite...mmm...and they're in big boxes now...I can feel my waistline expanding at the mere thought!
Expensive but worth inventing a special occasion for!Jax
Animal Aid currently have some very cheap Booja Booja and Cocoa Tree chocolate in their specials section. I bought some recently but that is THE last time, i now draw the line.
My obsession with luxury chocolate is now over.

Well that solves a mystery for me! My boyfreind bought some Linda McCartney sausages for me after scrutinising the ingredients for about half an hour, I was sure they weren't vegan though so I haven't touched them - now I can, that's assuming he hasn't eaten them all by now.puffin
Where can I get some from????.Mozbee
I have just discovered chinese tofu, pickled in red rice wine. It is GORGEOUS!!! I put it in sushi yesterday and couldn't believe how nice it was.
This morning I have been picking at it, and thinking "Hmmm, what does this remind me of." I suddenly realised. It tastes exactly like stilton! So if like me you used to like mouldy rotten cheese, finally a vegan version! Okay, the red rice wine means it is red, not blue, but wow, what a potent taste.

I have to admit that I prefer not to shop in supermarkets, but one product I am an absolute sucker for is Tesco's own-brand hummous (sp?). Try as I might, I just can't replicate the taste when I've tried making it from scratch. If they ever change the ingredients and add an animal-derived additive, I would be in mourning for weeks.
Yes I know T*sco hummous is delishious!
Yum, all this talk of food is making me hungry...
I adore carob gingers, i buy them in holland and barrat cos they don't glaze theirs with insects!! On the savory side i like those sage slices by the redwood company and taifurn's basil tofu is something else in a nice crisp salad!!
Has anyone tried those vegan marshmallows from vegan store, i'd like to try them but don't want to be dissapointed (they're quite expensive)!!
Hi Catmogg! My tastebuds stayed dry when I saw the price
yeah i know, i mean how good could they be worth the price, even dunked in green and blacks hot chocolate made with that new thick soya cream they also stock... Torture
You're from Yorkshire!! Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeee
My turn of mind is so given to taking things in the absurd point of view that it breaks out in spite of me every now and then.

I have tried them, i bought some for my son for his birthday, they are quite expensive but they do taste good. The soya squirty cream is also lovelycatmogg
Wow, might have to indulge....

I am sitting at home right now with my Green and Blacks cocoa, with cream and marshmallows, i hope my son doesnt notice that some are missing
What do you think to Alpro's New Recipe Soya Cream?
Mozbee
Love it. It seems to find it's way into almost everything I eat at the moment though
Oh good! I'm not keen though I liked the old one best - good old Soya Dream
I think it tastes the same as it always has, kind of ok on its own, but much better with mustard and put over my roast vegMozbee
I've never tried it in a savory context
It is really nice with a Christmas pud! Something for the whole family too......
Vegan Food - ah. Love it all. What are people's favourite veggie sausages?
Love all the alpro soya stuff. I've had veganstore marshmallows but not the newer ones that melt. They tasted of marshmallow but just bobbed about in my hot chocolate. Do the new ones really go melty Puffin?
Ooh - speaking of vegan store: peanut chews yum yum, and fizzy cola bottles, and those kit kat wafer things are pretty good too.
Has anyone tried the whippable cream (not the squirty one) - very curious.
Oh I love the cola bottles too!! Favourite sausages... vege-deli sage and marjoram I could eat them until they literally come out of my ears!

Ooh. You've given me a craving now. Love those too, but only cold! They're definitely fantastic and very addictive.
I think my favourite sausage and mash sausages are the ones you get in the little flat cardboard box. Can't remember what they're called.
Ha ha the 'little flat cardboard box', right....

Hiya cherry, lovely to see you back
The marshmallows just bob like you discribed, i dont know why but i didnt know marshmallows melted in hot chocolate
I have bought the whipping cream but havent done anything with it yet, i shall tell you what its like when i get around to making something with it
LOL! Maybe they don't! Perhaps I just imagined that that's what they were supposed to do!
The vegan store did say the new ones melted though, so I kind of would expect them to melt in hot chocolate.
Please do let me know what the whippable cream is like. May have to visit the vegan store again soon...
(thanks Puffin )
Are you mocking me Pixeequeen!?? It's smaller and flatter than all the other small flat boxes!
Fry's sausages are so so good.
So Cherry, are you talking smaller sausages or just a smaller box?? Perhaps the sausages are flat? Perhaps someone had just eaten half the pack of bigger sausages?? Or someone sat on the box?? Mocking you?? NO! he he
www.myspace.com/natureworks1
Fry's!! That's it. Thanks Kumem.
Humph Pixeequeen Actually they are quite small, and I think you only get 5. They're not as moreish as the redwood ones though so usually that isn't a prob!
It cant get excited by the prospect of eating cylindrically shaped soya & veggie formations with rounded ends, too many revolting memories!
I can see why you would think that. It has a recipe on the back for marshmallow and rice crispy cakes or something like that so i guess they will melt at a higher temp than the avarage cup of cocoacherry
It's gotta be falafel with fresh salad. mmmmm
I'm drinking a Chocolate OY right now - scrummy!
theres a new vegan food shop opening in derby soon but for the time being they have a stall in our indoor market and they sell soyasun yogurt - peach and guava live soya yougurt! the best thing ive tasted in aggggesss!
~*wanna disco? wanna see me disco?*~
Peach and guava yoghurt sounds lovely Wannadisco. Mmmm.
Strange you should say that Puffin as I was thinking about marshmallow crispy cakes when I wrote that. i thought I had written about it for a minute. The recipe I used to have had toffees in it too. (Can you get vegan toffees?) I'm just not sure I could stand to melt so many of them - it would be a very expensive crispy cake!!
I have been thinking about buying some of those vegan marshmallows. What brand do you recommend as being the best?
Hi Roxy, i have the 'Vegan sweets' ones, it doesnt say much else on the packet but they are from Veganstore
Cherry, that is exactly what i thought £5.99 for the pack and you have to use them all, dam expensive crispy cakes
There is a recipe on the food section about making toffee but i dont know how to put the link up
Hello
I've only ever had the vegan sweets ones as well Roxy but they also do 'supreme' ones (square chunks) that melt. Supposedly.
Puffin - no wonder they bobbed about in your hot chocolate!! I didn't realise we'd tried the same ones !! You have to use THE WHOLE BAG!? Good grief. Thanks for telling me about the toffee - you know, I didn't think of that! (Making my own). I used to make good treacle toffee but haven't done that for about 12 years. Still, I think experimenting with the right sort of toffee AND using an entire bag of marshmallows is a) too expensive and b) far too much work! Think I'll stick to chocolate crispy cakes until marshmallows are readily available.
You would have thought that gelatine-free marshmallows would be big business. I know a few omnivores who won't touch gelatine.
He he, i didnt think to look, i guess you mean the little one. I thought the ones i bought were the new and improved ones. (Note to myself, look before you reply)cherry
So who knows if the new ones melt because i havent a clue
LOL
Has ANYONE tried the new ones? And has anyone tried the whippable cream yet?
Are you managing to be restrained Puffin? I ate the whole bag of those ones in a couple of days! I think I must have been suffering from some sort of marshmallow deprivation. I have the same problem with the cola bottles though. I once ate a whole bag in one go.
I bought them for my son so i have only had a few while he wasnt looking
They have been in the cupboard for a week and a half but if they were mine the cupboard would be bare by now.
I love the cola bottles, and have some of them in the cupboard but yet again they dont belong to me
And nope, i still havent tried the wipping cream but i do have some, i really do and it is the one we have been talking about (well i hope it is)
has anyone tried the Swedish Glace choc ices on a stick? they're pretty expensive but they're gorgeous
'The word gorilla was derived from the Greek word Gorillai (a "tribe of hairy women")'
The new Alpro Raspberry and vanilla yogurts are absolutely yummy, and when mixed with a touch of icing sugar and poured in to lolly molds and frozen, are just out of the world
