West Midlands Vegan Festival – Saturday 29th October 2011.

This very well attended festival is back in Wolverhampton for the fourth year running.

This year it will be held again in the Civic Hall.

From 11am-5pm at the Wolves Civic, North Street, Wolverhampton.

More details will be announced over the coming months, but you can expect anything up to 100 stalls and a range of talks, cookery demos, entertainment etc.

We have had some good meet-ups there too

I will try to wear this t-shirt, so people can avoid me in time. I might need to wear it over my trousers if the weather is too cold.

The West Midlands Vegan Festival on Sat 29th Oct looks like being our biggest and best yet! We have nearly 90 stalls, up to 20 talks/workshops, 5 cookery demos, live entertainment throughout the day, a Best Vegan Cupcake Competition, presentation of The Vegan Society Awards, push-up competition, free goodie bags for the first 200 visitors, kids activities, an all vegan bar, after party till midnight and many other attractions! The festival will be opened at 11am by Adrian Ramsay, the vegan Deputy Leader of the Green Party. The festival website has been extensively updated with many more event details, see http://www.midlandsveganfestival.org.uk

An excellent article promoting the festival appeared in today's Express and Star newspaper, see http://www.expressandstar.com/lifest...on-civic-hall/

We still desperately need more volunteers for the event! Last year, half of our 1,500 visitors were non-vegans and we hope to top that figure this year, but to achieve this we need more people to hand out free food samples, leaflet and hold big arrow signs outside the venue! We also need volunteers for the welcome desk, introducing speakers and to urge visitors to fill in our feedback forms. If you can help for an hour or 2, please email dean_bracher@yahoo.co.uk

Finally, we still have masses of festival leaflets and posters. It's not too late to promote the festival, so please contact us with your address and the number you can use. Email info@veganmidlands.org.uk

Thanks for reading and we hope to see you on the day!

    Best wishes,
    MVC

The t-shirt came from Pete Ryan, vegan nutritionist... he is often found at a "Vegan Bodybuilding" desk.

    Speed Meeting/Dating Session - 2pm in foyer (and 3pm for a Gay/Lesbian Session)

This will be a fun opportunity to meet likeminded people for networking, socialising or perhaps a little more...! Taking place in the foyer at 2pm, you'll have the chance to meet and chat to up to 25 people within the hour. This year, we'll have a second session for gays and lesbians, starting at 3pm.

To register for either speed meeting session, go to the MVC info stall in the foyer on the day. Over 18's only. Open to vegetarians and vegans.

    mail me for more info

There is plenty to do after the festival.

Here’s a plan for laters on Saturday: Meet up at Civic Hall entrance at 5pm (where you came in to the festival). Walk to the City Bar. Two main vegan meals £5.95 before 6. £3.95 each meal after 6. Vegan beers/soft drinks/coffee/cakes etc.

Leaving at 7.15 and then walking to the gig.

If you can get to this link then details for the gig are: https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=225146630851025

It is a benefit gig for the festival. £5 in.

    See you all there

Me and my fiancee went and we enjoyed it. We made sure we ordered our Something fishy 'vegan fish and chips' nice and early! Good to see Hillfields, Green Meadow and Hugletts Wood animal sanctuaries there too and a pleasure supporting these worthwhile rescue places. I do urge anyone of you to either visit their open days and sign up as they are desperately in need of donations.

Bro - I waited outside until about 10 or quarter past five. I even asked people to wait whilst I checked indoors.

About 25 of us walked up to the City Bar.

Don't lose my moby number in future! (I've sent it to you again).

Needless to say we had a good time at the meal and gig and late night stuff etc etc - and on into Sunday too.

    Was a great weekend!

    Next time bro

I was baffled by the presence of The Vegetarian Society, and how their stall went on about the negative impact of cows on the environment...

I waited by entrance steps from 16:58 until 17:08. My watch was possibly 90 seconds fast. Maybe I was by the wrong steps.

As for an alcohol register...yes, that will be useful to paramedics.

I confess to feeling entertained by the idea of a Scottish woman out drinking Frank though.
