Default Save Tullos Hill deer petition

Just read about this in the latest edition of 'Critical Society' - Aberdeen Council plans to plant a 'tree for every citizen' but is proposing to cull 30 deer to prevent them damaging the saplings. Another example of our screwed up world...

Here's a link to the article (top pdf):

    and the petition:

    Thanks

Signed and posted the petition on Facebook. I'll spread the news on other forums as well. This is absurd!

Signed. Why can't they just wait until they have the money to protect the trees?

They're pretty much holding the deer to ransom. They've told the animal welfare group that is leading the protest that if the group can't raise the £200k necessary to protect the trees, the deer get it.

    Fucking shocking.

Thanks for signing and passing on guys. I have no connection with Aberdeen but this makes me so angry! I know Assaye, it's shocking. On the one hand the council are blackmailing the public to pay for tree protection but on the other hand they're saying that only a cull will adequately protect the trees anyway. And they've forbidden protesters from setting up displays in their local libraries - how can that even be allowed to happen?!

I saw this the other day and signed it. It makes no sense whatsoever! Typical council.
