    Default Vegan Liverpool

    Hi everyone,

I'm heading to Liverpool City Center on Wednesday (May 18th) for the first time since going vegan and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of any vegan friendly places to eat. I'm getting off on the Central station if that's any help for you with giving me directions

Also I thought it might be nice to share other places in Liverpool for a vegan to get some nice grub too

    Hi
    I live near Liverpool,
If you want just a sandwich
Boots usually have a vegan one (houmous and carrot) Boots is straight across from central station in Clayton square shopping centre.
Bold street has a starbucks, subway and if you venture further up there is a place called Mattas (Greek, veggie, vegan shop) that sell clives pies, wraps. To get to bold street, you just take the left exit out of central station (instead of walking straight ahead) and its the street you come out on.

If you want more than just a sandwich
There is the Egg cafe which is just off bold street.
A bit further down there is also Mello Mello which is on slater street (you might be best google mapping it).
Also on hanover street which is just at the bottom of bold street (just as you come out of central station) there is a place called grostins arcade, they have a shop that sells vegan chocolate (including Twilight & Jokerz Bars) & other food and a cafe called decaf which sells vegan food.
Those are the places that are closest to central station, the scouse veg website may also be of use Scouseveg

    Have a great time

    Hi

I used to live in Anglesey (Four Mile Bridge) and before that also near Liverpool (at an animal rescue there). I've lived in too many places! . Welcome to the forum, I think there's a good vegan/AR scene up in Liverpool, hope you settle in quickly and have fun there .

LOL yes seems you've lived in a few places I'm a bit more inland on Anglesey but still somewhat costal 10 minute drive to the beach or an hour walk if you feel inclinde to do that I used to half live in Liverpool when I was a teenager but I haven't been there in at least 5 years left the need for a day trip out there go on my old stomping grounds guess I never realized how vegan friendly Liverpool really is guess I got too used to the few and far between offerings of Anglesey. I hope to run into some vegans on my travels that would be nice And thanks for the welcome

he-he, yes Anglesey isn't exactly a mecca for vegans is it?. That health food shop over the water in Bangor is good though (if it's still there, by Morrisons?)

LOL yes Anglesey most certainly isn't a mecca for vegans but it's not too bad if you live in the right parts yes Dimentions the health food shop in Bangor is still going strong mainly thanks to the student population of Bangor and is an absolute god send for me for when I want a few bits to see me through the week!

Just thought I would update this in case any vegans visit Liverpool.

Dragon Indulgence and Decaff have now moved from Grostins into a shop called New Beginnings on Williamson street (L1 1EB), this is a good 10-15 minute walk from their original location and I didn't want anyone reading my original post and finding them not there!

I just came back from a self indulgent shopping trip to Liverpool and managed to find some great vegan stuff - Lindt Dark Bunny (Home Bargains), Vegan Custard Creams (Tesco Liverpool 1), Black Salt (Mattas), Cocoa Deli Dark Chocolate Mint Easter Egg (99p Store), Cola Cao & Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Spread (Lunya - Catalonian Deli), Liquid Smoke (Deli Fonseca):

The Egg mentioned above is a nice, quirky sort of veggie caff style place less than 10 mins from the station. I go there sometimes when I visit my folks in Liverpool. They do a brilliant vegan breakfast (which you can also have for lunch) with veg sausages, baked beans etc. Some of their cakes are usually vegan too. The cafe is just off on a side street and up a flight of stairs.
    There's a map on their website http://www.eggcafe.co.uk/contact.html
Firestorm: that choc spread above looks good, haven't seen that anywhere else before! May have to stock up next time I'm back in Liverpool.

Mattas on Bold Street are now selling Vegusto cheese, sausages, burgers & slices (there is now a new Chinese Supermarket next door selling some vegan stuff - but I was almost fooled by "Tofu Fish", I thought it was fake fish made from tofu, its actually tofu with fish).

Also one of the shops specialising in American candy (A quater of sweets on Parker Street in Clayton Square) is selling Hickory Liquid Smoke
