    Default how to ask waitstaff in german

    this summer i am spending two months in germany. i do not speak german. from the book
    'how to travel the world as a vegan' by maria giurcan, i made a hard copy of the phrase:

    Ich esse kein Fleisch, auch kein Huhn (und keinen Fisch)

    i will also spend a little time in italy and have written the italian version of the above.
    can some one provide the german and italian phrases asking if 'is it cooked in butter or animal fat?
    also should i ask the waitstaff any other question?

    thanks

    Your best bet might be to get a copy of a book called The Vegan Passport, it should have all the info you need.
    I hope that you have a great time in Germany & Italy
    Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing,
    Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;

    we will be in the bavaria region of germany. the closest, largest city is regansburg-- only one vegan restaurant there. we will also be spending a week in berlin. i have found a long list of vegan restaurants in this city. my son and his new wife located to germany this past january and will be there for the next two years working as a software contractor with the army. we are taking our grandson, who lives in ohio, with us. we are going on a one week, "kids'" cruise-ship trip out of venice, itatly.

    my son just informed me that he communicates with his german landlady by using googles translation program along with google's chrome browser.
    ttp://translate.google.com/?hl=en&tab=wT#

    it seems the dialog is one-sided, however. anyway, using the translation program, i have the printed page i wanted.
