Default Festival bans meat for Morrissey

A Belgian music festival, which prides itself on its horse-meat sausages, is going meat-free on the day that vegetarian singer Morrissey performs.
The 10-day Lokerse Feesten, which boasts online about sales of sausage rolls and snails, will order stalls to sell vegetarian food only on 4 August.
Organisers said "one meatless day" out of 10 was "a healthy break for all".
In 2009, the singer left the stage at California's Coachella festival saying he could "smell burning flesh".
According to Coachella festival-goers, the singer then added: "And I hope to God it's human."
The Lokerse Feesten said it had "dreamed" of booking Morrissey for year.
"Many months we worked on it, for weeks we waited for an answer, many nights were spent sleepless," it said on its website.
The booking "meant a welcomed catering challenge for one day", it added.
"Our food stalls will be serving you an array of healthy vegetarian dishes."

    Good for Morrisey!

I wouldn't mind betting thats a fair part of a whole horse he has reduced the estimated demand for further dead horses by there plus a fair old number of snails.

Such things are as a gnats-pee in the oceans in the greater scale of things, obviously.

Somewhere though about three quarters of a horse (wild guess!) and a couple of cabbage patches worth of snails have reason to be gratefull but are, undoubtedly, totally unaware.

Note to self: Must remember to kick up a stink in my local Subway next time I go. They seem to be be culling of half of a modest sized menagerie a day in there ..
All done in the best possible taste ...

That's really good. It would be great if other festivals would follow (and not just because of a veggie performer playing there), and maybe have one day out of the festival that only sells vegetarian or vegan food.

The fact that they call it "A healthy break for all" kinda points out that they realise how unhealthy eating meat is, as well.

Yay for Morrissey! I've often wondered why he is not vegan though (he's not, is he?)

I don't think he is, Zee. I have often wondered that too. Especially considering the campaigns he puts his name too with Peta. But then, Peta often don't push veganism that much, just vegetarianism.

I don't want to think about what they would do for Ted Nugent...

    Wow, awesome. Simply awesome.

Though most festivals I've been too have mostly veg food to offer. But I guess it depends a lot on what kind of festival.

Anyway, I think I just became a Morrisey fan

It's very fitting, actually. August 4 is a Thursday.

So they can say they are adopting The "Thursday=Veggieday" campaign (is that not headed by Paul McCartney?)

    Best regards,
    Andy

A shame it is only vegetarian, but a modest victory nonetheless. I'm guessing that the 'corpses r us' caterers would be pretty stumped if they had to provide vegan fayre.
