Thanks for the photo of the "steak" and onions Ruby - trying it as we speak - I am at the stage where it is boiling and I have to say it smells horrid! Margaret.

So much delicious food! It's taken me months to get through this entire thread, but it's definately been worth it! lol
Houmous atá ann!
I love this thread! I get hungry here even when I'm full. Yum!!
Someone requested Christmas food, so here's some.
Christmas dinner (early, but spending Xmas with partner's family, so this was with my family). Butternut squash and cranberry roast with all the trimmings:
Doughnut-style cupcakes (for Chanukah):
A selection of cupcakes from Ms Cupcake, bought at the Xmas Without Cruelty fair (these were yummy!):
Rainbow cake made for friend's birthday/Xmas party:
My slice of the rainbow cake (so pretty, got to show it twice!):
White chocolate torte with raspberry coulis (recipe from Mr Flibble: http://lustrousmusings.blogspot.com/...ate-torte.html)
Live and let live
And now for some cakes I made for my Xmas party last weekend.
Double-trouble cupcake (double = dark and white chocolate, trouble = kahlua):
Christmas cupcake (raisins, sultanas and mixed peel soaked in rum, cooked in a cupcake with mixed spice, topped with brandy marzipan and rum icing):
A tree of cakes!:
My first attempt at Yule Log, which was a bit rubbish (but tasted great, it just didn't look quite right) - I'll try and do better next year!:
Merry Christmas everyone!
Live and let live
not very Xmas-y but hey ho
Pea soup
Vichyssoise
Cherry almond muffins
i wish it was raining
Convectuoso: looks yum. I love pea soup and cherry and almond muffins.
Peanuts: The cake is my standard cake recipe, but without any flavourings that add colour (eg no cocoa), so I used strawberry flavouring. The icing is a vegan creamcheese icing (I used Tofutti creamcheese), topped with sprinkles. But I think what you're really asking is how to get the rainbow effect! For that, I used the technique outlined here (but not the recipe, obviously, which is not vegan; just use a vegan recipe and the technique that this person describes): http://www.omnomicon.com/rainbowcake

Peanut Butter & Chocolate Cheesecake - it doesn't look quite right as our new oven is...oh...rubbish to say the word. lol I used the icing sugar to hide the fact our oven has one temperature!

Spag Bol is like all I seem to make. I got some yeast though to make pizza dough. hahaha
My goal for 2011 is to make one new healthy recipe a week.

Peanut butter and chocolate cheesecake? Really? Peanut butter AND chocolate AND cheesecake, all in one mouthful? I don't know if my mouth could cope with that much happiness all in one go! Sounds too good to be true!
Live and let live
Oh god peanut butter chocolate cheesecake sounds so good.
Either this wallpaper goes, or I do.
It was ay-may-zing!! That was slightly "overcooked" imagine if it was just perfect?!

an omnivorous ex-friend decided he had a problem with vegans (w/o knowing what the definition of vegan is) and started insulting, and then his buddy joined in. It got ugly. I had to delete the whole thing...
Your pics didn't show up for me. =/
eta: never mind! I see them now!

Ruby Duby - I've had alot of people delete me from Facebook recently because of my vegan posts. Oh well! Their loss!
The taste of anything in my mouth for 5 seconds does not equate to the beauty and complexity of life.
I actually deleted him. He wouldn't stop and I knew it was going to be an ongoing theme with him. I had just added him a few weeks earlier and hadn't seen him since high school. Apparently he hasn't grown up yet!
I kind of wish I'd saved the thread now!

Ugh, what a moron.
Does Facebook ever truly delete anything? I know that this has been raised before regarding privacy. But it means you could probably retrieve the conversation if you wanted.
Live and let live
that's a good point... after I deleted the pic the conversation somehow kept on going for a few days! I don't know how to find it though, now that it's over. :/

Red Velvet Cupcakes (Vegan Celebrations)
Buffalo Seitan Bites (Vegan Comfort Food), Potato Salad (Vcon), blue cheeze dip (posted by Rubyduby on VF)
Chickpea Romesco, Garlic Saffron Rice (both from Vcon)
Orecchiette Pasta with Broccoli Rabe and Chickpeas (Mediterranean Vegan) , salad
Baked Ziti with tvp and Daiya cheese (Vegan Comfort Food), side salad
BBQ Pomegranate Tofu, Coconut Rice (both from VWAV)
tabbouleh-bouleh
I bought Vegan Comfort Food for a friend for Christmas. Do you like it? The food looks delicious! I'm thinking about buying it for myself.
Each snowflake in an avalanche pleads not guilty.
I like it a lot. I have made the buffalo bites many times, as well as dishes like orange tofu, the baked ziti, and the tortilla soup. I would say the recipes are not as creative as Isa's, but they are easier and tasty. I have her second book, Vegan Celebrations, but have only made the red velvet cupcakes so far.
tabbouleh-bouleh
easier and tasty sounds good to me!

I hope no one ever takes this thread literally and posts a picture of food they've eaten, though, actually there's been a few that do look a bit like that.
Home made potato wedges, mushy peas, vegetable burger, ketchup, spinach & grated carrot salad with a olive oil and vinegar dressing.
Not a very good photo but I was impatient to get stuck in. This is a small amount of the Indian takeaway we had for my birthday meal this evening.
We had rice, lime pickle, mango chutney, potato cakes, vegetable samosas, subz masala, black dahl, saag aloo, popadums, chapati's, mixed chopped vegetable salsa thing.
Yum! I love me some samosas...
I have never had a lime pickle though; I'm not sure what that is.
tabbouleh-bouleh
Pickle as in the form of preservation, not as in cucumbers that have been pickled. It's preserved lime with some added spices and it's really quite sour and potent. It's the bit that looks like sick next to the orange blob (mango chutney) in the bottom right hand corner.
In process of cooking yesterday - tofu and vegetable stir fry. 10 mins preparation, 10 mins cooking. Now who can argue with that? Complete with genuine steam.
Ingredients: tofu, green beans, broccoli, asparagus tips, celery, mushrooms, garlic, mange tout - all stir fried in sesame oil and a soy, lemon and ginger sauce to finish. Total 450 calories per serving.

Well thank you very much .... had to include the steam to prove it was 'live' - in a strictly non-animal sense, of course

Sorry for the poor picture, I took four but they all came out blurred, think the lens must be dirty.
From top going clockwise;
- Wholewheat couscous with sautéd yellow bell pepper, red onion, garlic and lemon juice.
- Tzatziki made with soya yoghurt, cucumber, salt, lemon juice.
- Houmous (store bought)
- Falafels made with kana chala (red chickpeas), red onion, garlic, lemon juice and a little flour. Fried in chilli infused oil.
- Pitta bread (store bought) heated in toaster.
- Chopped spinach and tomato
mmmm yummy healthy food!
