    Default Chia Seeds

Is anybody eating Chia seeds? If yes, how much do you eat per day? Can you specify if you eat it in a gel form or just the seeds?
    THANK YOU!!

I make a Chia Seed Pudding, it's very satisfying and healthy:

    2/3 cup Chia Seeds
2 cups unsweetened non-dairy milk such as soy, almond or rice milk
    1/2 tsp. pure Vanilla extract
2 tablespoons currants or chopped dried figs or dates
    2 tablespoons unsweetened coconut flakes

"Put chia seeds, almond milk and vanilla in a 1-quart glass jar with a lid. Tighten the lid and shake well to thoroughly combine. Or, stir together seeds, almond milk and vanilla in a bowl. Refrigerate overnight. When ready to serve, stir well. Spoon into bowls and top with fruit and coconut."

I try not to have too much of it, on my Chia seed package it says not to exceed the consumption of more than 2 tbsp. per day. Maybe your body can't effectively digest or utilize all of it?

They are a very good source of Omega 3 and 6. They also swell in over night oats and make them nice and thick.

Ok, just ordered some. Can I just eat them straight or should I let them sit in water overnight and then consume then. Thanks for the tip, my tip to you is to take maca (and ground flax seed) if you aren't already...

I *think* you can eat them straight and still get all the benefits, but I soak them. This woman has some great recipes:

I think they are delicious... I also soak them overnight with some almonds, walnuts and dehidrated blueberries and use them next morning over my porridge. YUM

I use Renew Life's organic chia seeds just about daily. I put one tablespoon in my daily protein shake. The actually soften up in the shake but do make it a bit thick so you have to drink it rather quickly!

    I love them!!

I use them in my lunch ... I sear an Ezekiel tortilla (made with no wheat; just sprouts) filled with avocado, spinach leaves, a palm full of chia seeds, diced onions, hot pepper flakes, a sprinkle of raw tabouli, sea salt, and drizzle with either olive oil or grapeseed oil. If I'm in the mood, I also sprinkle on a few cashews or slivered almonds.

    Yum!!

Oddly enough, I've also found that they work well in herbal tea (along with the tea leaves) if I'm drinking the whole tea and not using a tea bag. They add a little texture to it and it is quite satisfying.

And I put them in my savoury grain mixture of quinoa, millet, spelt berries, and tabouli. I briefly steam these grains, then add mashed avocado, a wee bit of minced onions, salt, and chia seeds, drizzled with a good oil like olive or grapeseed. (hot pepper flakes optional)

    Another yum!!
