It is sad that frivolous campaigns and nudity have tarnished the image of AR and is hurting the movement.

It is counter-productive having celebrities promote veganism, making it faddish and shallow.

Glamorous cooking shows and magazines depict the vegan diet as expensive, elitist and out of reach to the general public.

Welfare organizations are stealing people away from animal liberation by supporting attitudes of dominion over animals.

Radical elements are causing the public to shun AR as too extreme, even violently misogynistic.

Deeply entrenched wealthy Orgs are losing members by there constant delivery of horrific images.

Local groups that can barely tread water are turning people off by their lack of success.

Self-proclaimed experts in scientific/health fields are causing a rebound effect with their preachy attitude and unattainable goals.

Hippy-dippy alternative lifestyle folks are just living proof that veganism is too difficult in real society.

The chronically sick or overweight vegans portray the lifestyle to be one of deprivation necessary only in extreme circumstances.

Bourgeois middle-aged AR campaigners turn off the young generation with their 'pet' cause instead of promoting a new world order.

THIS. A succint, depressing summary of the constipation of the animal rights/welfare movement. This is why there is so much passion and so little action.

Aaaaah, I hope others are seeing my mockery of criticism here: we should all be able top find ourselves somewhere on the list of 'hurting the movement'; if not, your dead

Anyone heard the Bill Cosby monologue 'they should just put them somewhere'?

I couldn't find that monologue using that tag Pat. Your post was top of the google list though.

I'm going to quote myself now, since I already made the effort to carefully word something:

Animal porn is a distinct possibility. Maybe "serving" procedures in factory farms. Artificial insemination would certainly be an eye opener to some... see the "special gun" in action [quoted from 'official' UK AI website]; Very relevant in the dairy industry.
Obviously a lot of such farm porn will be depicting the rape and sexual abuse of animals [and the corporate abuse of the practitioners, incidentally]. This issue qualifies for inclusion in a debate about the depiction of 'prisoners' which future animal rights campaigners might need to deal with.
What if PETA do obtain their triple x domain, and make available the most obvious material for this context [ pictures of farm animal impregnation procedures]? I wouldn't be surprised if this issue has been discussed already in this forum, but it is certainly relevant, so:

Is it okay to use images of the abuse of animals to further one's ethical, political, or commercial interests?
At this point i must resist my tendency to get all objective, in case the student mind fails to make the disconnection.
Arguably the evidence of animal abuse should be made public for people to know the truth... to act!? Users of graphic evidence of animal abuse will argue that such exposure of the practices of abusive farmers does not cause the abuse. Surely photographing vegan organic farmers brushing rescued animals could be similarly classified? Hang on, am I still on topic... oh yes.
Seriously though, do AR organisations benefit from confronting people with evidence of animal abuse [sexual or otherwise]? Do members of such organisations derive pleasure from exposing people to real evidence of serious physical abuse of living creatures? Maybe one or two of them? Probably quite rare?

Would it be unreasonable to fear that certain individuals would tune in to animal rights sites in order to watch graphic images of animal abuse for satisfaction of primal instincts?

Which unpleasant possibility would be worse? Do either of them warrant abandoning the use of [photo]graphic documentation?
