Thanks Dia. We practically live in Red Bamboo whenever we visit and have always made sure to stay close to there after our first trip to NY! I will be at Atlas quite a lot, I need creme donuts!!

I haven't tried Wild Ginger so maybe we'll go there this time. I'll be making a visit or two to Candle 79 and candle Cafe as well, have you been there? I think Candle 79 is almost as nice as Blossom which I love.

(I've been to Pure Food and Wine a few times, it predates Blossom! It had just opened before our first trip to NY a few years back - we heard about it in Moo Shoes!)

I remember last time I was so excited to go to Dirt Candy which was new and we both hated it!

^ Hm, why did I think pure food was new? Odd.
I've been to Candle 79. A little too fancy for me. I'm a simple girl.
Creme doughnuts??? I had no idea!
I never even heard of dirt candy.
You know more about NY then me!

Caravan of Dreams apparently has some of the top ten vegan meatballs in America. (http://blog.vegcooking.com/2009/11/t...ls_in_amer.php)

From their menu... "Live Love Boat... Savory almond-Brazil nut meatballs served with sliced tomatoes on a napa cabbage leaf boat with mango chutney and marinara."

You should try it out! Their entire menu looks pretty delicious actually.

I might be up for this now, as long as I can get the stuff I need to do sorted (moving from a hotel to an apartment on Friday so it depends on timings for keys handover etc). Will keep an eye on the thread to see what the plan is.

Ok, I might be new to this forum but how did I see almost an entire page go by without mention of VP2? The only reason Red Bamboo exists is because VP2 has been vegan awesomesauce for years and years and years.

It was lovely meeting up with you guys his evening, thanks for co-ordinating it Diashel. (I bet you get cookies off Timberly long before runtheroad gets any off me! )

eta I will be able to post the photo when I'm back in the UK in the New Year.
(I was hungry when I got back to the apartment and have been eating sushi. )

Interesting. I've never heard anyone rave about VP2 nor read any impressive write ups in guide books which have made me think "I must go there'. Have you tried Red Bamboo? How do you think the two compare? (Every time I think I might try it I find myself there, two doors from Red Bamboo and I cave in and go there instead.)

When I was at Moo Shoes yesterday they directed me to the shop opposite (Kaight, 83 Orchard Street) who have a range of different vegan shoes to Moo Shoes but also sell some leather. They had some funky over the knee vegan boots and funky velveteen and plastic shoes!

Also Teany is closed til mid-January according to the guys working there on the refit.

Oh Marrers! If I lived 4 hours closer and wasn't so insanely busy until mid-January, I would have loved to drive up to meet you!

Hope you two have a great time in NY! I hope to hear about all the wonderful vegan options they have up there, I'm making another trip up there sometime this spring.
