    Default Convincing vegetarian mince?

My mum said if she could get a tasty vegetarian mince she'd stop eating animals.
She tried Quorn mince and binned it saying it was disgusting (but my dad claims she didn't even try it).
I don't eat any fake/mock meats so I'm not very clued up on it. What are the best vegetarian mince alternatives? (We're in the UK).

Do you have Boca mince in the UK? That is the most convincing I have tried. When I make tacos with it or sloppy joes, no one can tell the difference.
See, in all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable is each other.

I think some Boca products are available in the UK, but no where near me.

There's just a ridiculous amount of choice of vegan mince in the UK. All the supermarkets have their own brand, H&B do some, you could also try dried soya mince. To be honest though, it sounds like your mum will refuse them all - I've heard that kind of statement before.

Maybe it's worth a trip or an online order? Assuming she'll be true to her statement.

No point in ordering it online when you can get Linda McCartney soya mince or supermarket own-brand locally. They're all essentially the same product, frozen tvp with seasonings.

Alpro has a mince, and if you can believe advertisements Italians can't tell the difference...

    Ahh really? Doh
I've never actually had 'normal' mince, I assumed it was something more than just chunks of meat (or tvp) by the way that people talk about it lol.

Its just a good basic product to have for recipes that traditionally have minced cow flesh such as shepherds' pie and chilli, that's probably why people talk about it so much!

I tend to use Tesco's (which is Tivall), it tasted OK and is usually on offer 2 for £3
