    Default Minimum required fats?

    Hi,

im looking forward to understand how much I can use of fats etc.

Sometimes I realize i eat spinach, broccoli, salad, carrots etc during my day and so if I count its like I took zero fats mostly.

But I readed that some fat is needed, cause its fat that help body to transport vitamins etc. otherwise u dont get benefit of those, right ?

Whats the minimum so ? Im 1.88 and weight 85 Kg if that is needed to know

    thanks a lot

    Hi,

If you do a search for "fat intake calculator" they have calculators where you type in your height and weight, and it tells you how many grams of fat you should be getting every day.

Oils, nuts, avocados are good vegan fat sources and I'm sure if you do a search on here there are threads about good ideas for fats in your diet.

Who says that Broccoli does not have fats?

If I check www.nutridiary.com and enter 100 grams broccoli, cooked, without salt, it gives me the following nutrients:

    Amounts per 100g
    Calories 35
    Calories From Fat 3.1
    % Daily Value*
    Total Fat 0.4g
    Saturated Fat 0.1g
    2%
    1%
    Cholesterol 0mg %
    Sodium 41mg 2%
    Total Carbohydrate 7.2g
    Dietary Fiber 3.3g
    Sugars 1.4g
    2%
    14%
    Protein 2.4g 5%

3.1 calories from fat among 35 calories in total would be fine with the suggestion of the 80/10/10 diet (get 80 % of your calories from carbs, and a max of 10 % each from fat and protein). You simply have to eat enough of it.

But I agree, to get your required ALA alpha linoleic acids, it would be a good idea to consume, e.g. 8 walnuts per day.

    Best regards,
    Andy

Good links ... ok, try these!

    http://www.drfuhrman.com/library/article17.aspx
http://www.drfuhrman.com/library/ome...tty_acids.aspx (don't like that one so much as it mentions fish oils as options, although discouraging it)

    Best regards,
    Andy

PS: 76 grams of fat - my ass. Must have been a US government site...
