    Default Olympic opening ceremony

For anyone who's angry about real animals being used in the London 2012 opening ceremony, here's a petition:

I very much doubt any plans will be changed at this late stage but still...

I wasn't even aware that they were going to use animals but then I haven't been paying attention to any Olympic hype. I signed the petition, every voice counts.

Thaks, I've signed that. I also wrote to them a few days ago as requested by Animal Aid (I think it was) and got a letter back saying it was OK because the RSPCA was working with them on it :/

You never know, they might change their minds as there has been quite a lot of fuss about it, plus a threat of prosecution http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2012...?newsfeed=true

I have signed it this week end as it was on the Viva ! website. I have even sent a letter to the olympic committee regarding this and I have received a reply this morning:

    Hello XXXXXX,

Thank you for contacting London 2012 about the Opening Ceremony.

The welfare of the animals in the London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony is of the utmost importance. We are working with the RSPCA who are providing animal welfare advice.

    Kind regards,

    Angus

Once again animals are simply seen as objects for our use... Signed.

I've signed it too. Why do they need to use animals in an opening ceremony or anything else for that matter anyway? This is 2012, the supposed age of enlightened thinking. I see nothing enlightened about this.

It's awful isn't it. Humans seize any opportunity to use and abuse animals, so sad.

It really is. Sometimes I really do dislike my own species.
