Default "You have to always be right, don't you?"

Under the heading of stoopid things meat eaters say, this one.

If you never put your foot down (as it were) over anything you are not 100% sure is right and can prove to be 100% right and you never back down from anything you are 100% sure is wrong and can prove to be 100% wrong ..

Well, you really do always have to be right, don't you?

    I'm sorry but I don't understand what it's saying.

That is probably because it is a piece of nonsense that simply defies understanding HR.

The nonsense in hand being that taking the time and trouble to get things right seems, by some, to be seen as some sort of personality flaw.

To be pedantic.... Said in certain contexts, it is said to someone who refuses to examine their motivation for their actions. Self delusion can be a really strong thing. I know plenty of people who have to believe they are right, and therefore have to convince themselves of the others wrongness. Otherwise they would not be able to maintain their idea of themselves, the need to think of themselves as good, thus refusing to listen to another point of view/being so convinced of their essential "rightness" that they desire not to truly hear your words...And so they don't! They sometimes unconsciously misinterpret/become defensive/dismiss you as "just not knowing what they know/not understanding things correctly". I would view such people as having to be right! But having to "be right" in a certain context is certainly no bad thing!

well, "you always have to be right, don't you" is a fine closing Argument to say something when you have nothing else left to say...
