    Default Fortified Soup

This is very simple and very cheap - should cost less than a pound. It is also very quick.

    You will need
1 tin of vegetable soup (vegan of course)
    1 tin of baked beans
    4 slices of wholemeal bread

Sieve the beans, draining/washing off all the sauce (which is full of sugar and therefore not good for you!)Add the beans to the soup, cook for 3 - 4 minutes till boiling, then serve and eat! Yes, that's all there is to it!
Even though it isn't a heavy meal by any means, it is surprisingly filling.

The beans and wholemeal bread combined make a complete protein.
The beans, bread and vegetables provide plenty of carbohydrates.
There is very little fat, so if required, you could chase it down with an avocado or some nuts, as you like.

The sauce is the best part! Just buy plain beans if you don't want the baked bean sauce!

I'm sure there're loads of threads on the de-bunking of the theory that you have to eat complete proteins at one meal.

Don't mean to gripe though, I love soup and baked beans so that sounds pretty good!
    Houmous atá ann!

If you make soup from fresh ingredients you can just cook dry beans in it. Canned beans are very wasteful as metal and water are a large portion of the weight transported around. Washing away the sauce then even adds to that by wasting food (even if it isn't the most healthy food, it is still food).

Amazing! A thread I agree with all posts so far! lol

    Yes, cool simplr recipe!

Yes, a tin of unsauced beans would be better still!

Yes, excepting for the lower convenience factor, using dry beans would be even more better than better still.

I have a suspicion that Mr Albion may simply have had a 'things you would likely find anywhere' idea going on here, mind; Beans in sauce, compared to beans not in sauce, is much easier to find.
All done in the best possible taste ...

Indeed, I wouldn't disagree with you. Better to use plain beans and/or to make your own vegetable soup. Though that all takes quite a time in preparation and cooking and that may not be practical or convenient, depending on lifestyle and time of day. (I have mine for lunch) This makes a very quick meal. 3 - 4 minutes and its done. And it's a very healthy meal - and it's vegan of course!
