Sure..... I have no problems with eating with my fingers, though being vegan means I do eat more things that are easily eaten with a fork of spoon
I find that it's more fun if you eat with someone else's fingers. It's more messy, too.
What - you mean you don't get your friends to pick up piles of spaghetti and pile it into your mouth?
Must be just me then.
At dinner, we usually have our main dish, with a big plate of salad in the middle to share. We eat our main with our cutlery but eat the salad with our fingers.
No finger eating for me.
"Animals are my friends... and I don't eat my friends". ~ George Bernhard Shaw.
Food tastes different when eaten with fingers. Sometimes it's the only way to eat some things
I eat with my fingers when it comes to things like cereal (I eat it dry), sandwiches, wraps, pizza, french fries, fruit, baby carrots ... things like that.
Some foods I eat with my fingers. Some I used a fork. I dislike spoons and only use them for cereal, puddings, soups, stuff like that.
I also eat with pita bread. Tear off a peice and scoup up my food.
My boyfriend is from Sri Lanka originally and I guess traditionally they all eat with their hands. He does. It looks messy but fun!
chocolate maybe, but spaghetti!! Haven't tried that one! Must arrange a night for my friends to come round and try it!Stu
Yay! for Finger Food - but wash hands first, please!
eating with your fingers is fun.. however, i must say that the grapefruit spoon is the coooooolest thing ever. there's like nine million things i can eat with it.
fingers are just the perfect eating utensils
maybe not for a clear soup....but everything else
You may have heard the saying that "fingers were made before forks". I like eating with my fingers - depends on the food, of course. It's also good fun feeding the special person in your life this way
Actually both Preferably with someone but sometimes alone is good too Happy New YearAbFab
Chopsticks are fun too. I'm still learning so when I use chopsticks, I find myself using my fingers about half the time to help grab the food. Hehehe!
Peace, love, and happiness.
ouch those grape fruit spoons look dangeres! im going to try that finger eating, my family might think ive gone even more bonkers eating rice n veg curry like that but hey most mamals eat like that.
I always eat with my fingers except while eating Rice with Dhal/Dal. I do keep Spoon in my plate. So it is mixed. Most people in India eat with the fingers only.

My stepfather is Indian. His family eat off washed banana leaves with their hands, they use chapatis for the messy stuff.
They did it really neatly but I always got it in my hair and down my front
Saves on washing up I guess
Silent but deadly :p
Yeah, you are right, in South India, people do eat their food on Banana tree leaves...and few south indian during the course of eating foods lick their hands from finger to elbow too specially when do they eat RiceHemlock

A lot of his relatives are vegan also because of their religion. Unfortunately my sisters (half sisters are omnivores), probably because they were brought up here, I'd always feel at home there tho' as everyone knows how to cater for vegans!let_me_view
They must wonder why English women are such messy eaters though
Silent but deadly :p
Hemlock, I wanna see/meet those Indian Vegans and living here in India. Please do me a favor. Just forward undermentioned link to them.

Sadly they don't live in India, they live in Mauritius but came from India originally!let_me_view

i had a nice little 'eat with fingers' lunch. broken, warm pitta bread with hummus and homemade guacamole and some cherry tomatoes....mmmm t'ws lovely.
That happens to me even when I'm NOT eating with my fingersHemlock
Absolutely. I'm not very good at chopsticks either so I always go for noodles over riceTigerlily
I like the variety. I like using fingers, chopsticks, naan/bread/poppadums, forks, spoons depending on the food.
Me too cherry!!
I like eating with my fingers, although I tend not to do it when dining with others for reasons of etiquette.
Chopsticks are great to eat with, I mastered how to use them when I was quite young. Asian restaurants are still my favourite places to eat (aside from designated veggie/vegan places).
I'd love to travel to India some day to sample some vegan cuisine. I have been to the well Gujarati restaurant in Leeds called Hansa's, which is excellent, but would like to try the same thing in India itself.
Gujrati/South Indian menu is not HOT and spicy as Rajasthani/North Indian menu. Gujrati dishes usually are added with White Sugar in India.Gujarati Dhokla(Khaman) is very tasty.VeganJohn

Thats another one on my never ending list of gripes actually! lol
When they leav the leaves so massive.I feel like i should ask 'How the $*@^ do yu expect me to get that in my little mouth lol
I love finger food though in general [/COLOR]
i usually eat with cutlery but eating with fingers is so much more fun!
i eat with my fingers sometimes other times with cutlery,
i still find it hard to eat soup with my fingers
(sorry someone had to say it,) (is childish i know)
I don't mind eating with my fingers after a good hand wash.. Its a lot comfy, quick and easy. The best choice for a mechanical life-style.
Not for me. I have tried chopsticks before. Its hard. But, I love to stick them up the sides of my mouth and imitate a walrus.Chopsticks are fun too.
Life is like a boomerang: What goes around comes around - "Karma"rocks!
Eating with fingers is fine but holding ones knife like a pen is not.
Hemlock - cutlery snob!
Silent but deadly :p
Chopsticks are fun! I sometimes use them on American-type noodles, just because it amuses me...
I like things I can eat with my hands best, generally. I rarely eat soup, but I do use spoons for that, ice cream, yogurt, and cereal! (Vegan versions) I use a fork regualrly, but rarely require a knife since going vegan. When I'm alone, I use my hands too much though, even for things I shouldn't, like salad.
Could you not just drink from the bowl when "eating" soup? You know, just pick it up with two hands? And slurp away!
Finger food is also the best food for disabled and elderly people who can't use a knife and fork without difficulty. I'm serious, some elderly people have such trouble eating with knife and fork that they don't get to eat properly. Try cutting up food when your hands are deformed by arthritis. People caring for elders have published research papers on it.
Also knife and fork is culture-specific. Some cultures use nannbread and other wraps to eat with, some use fingers as a scoop by custom.
