The taste of anything in my mouth for 5 seconds does not equate to the beauty and complexity of life.
I had a day with mainly Middle Eastern food yesterday:
Breakfast: A banana, some grapes and nuts and a glass of juice. It's good to have an occasional day without sunflower bread with sunflower spread!
Snack: Vegan Fajitas (bought at Ikea! They also have other vegan options now).
Lunch: Pita w/hummus from a Lebanese cafe. I still wonder why their hummus so often taste better than the one I make...
Travel food (I normally don't eat while I'm in a car, but yesterday was an exception): Falafel, salad and baba ganoush from a takeaway place. Pistachio nuts and a pear.

Yeh it's great! I was at Ikea the other night and had a really nice dish!
The taste of anything in my mouth for 5 seconds does not equate to the beauty and complexity of life.
I seem to eat so much. Its still early days I guess I am adapting.
B: er.. nothing.
S: hoummous with celery (kind of a late breakfast really)
L: falafel with baked beans
S: banana, choc bar, liquorice sweets, fruit & nut bar
D: stirfry with brown rice, strawberries
S: 2 free from cherry bakewells
Thanks for the positive thoughts but its the quantities that concerns me... a whole 200g pot of hoummous with a whole packet of celery; 8 falafel; choc bar AND fruit & nut bar?! and the amount of rice in my stirfry - nearly twice the amount you get in a takeaway portion. I'm hoping I will naturally eat a little less as I get used to the foods. I'm loving them so much I jsut want to eat loads.
I think I'm going to keep a food diary. Then again, if I compare to a typical omni day of mine, complete with fast food and high fat dressings and other dairy snacks... urgh *shudder*.
I ate loads when I first went vegan, and it settled out. Like you say, the foods are so much yummier and your body probably recognises that they are less toxic and wants to stock up! It doesn't sound like you're eating too much to me, but if it's not 'normal' for you then it will settle down if it needs to. Don't worry...just enjoy the yumminess
Ikea - good for vegans?! Last time I went, I had plain pasta and passata. Not the most inspiring meal! I'm due another trip though, I'll have to have words
- 1/2 bowl of plain oatmeal. 2 cups of green tea.
- Pita wrap w/ tahina, tabbouli & lettuce. Coke
- Grapes & dried figs
- 1/2 a potato pizza.
Lunch
2 bananas
1 apple
apple pie lara bar
Dinner
big salad - lettuce, baby spinach, 1/2 avo, sun dried tomatos, sprouts, pine nuts, grape dressing
handful raisins
Snacks
bowl of alpro custard...yum!
glass fresh orange juice
glass fresh vegetable juice
coffee + rice milk
soy yogurt, banana, kiwi fruit + oats
leftover veg + noodle soup
coffee + rice milk

Pretty lean day, Frosty!
I had quite an indulgent day
Breakfast: homemade muesli with almond milk and maple syrup
Snack: hot chocolate (made with maple syrup and cocoa instead of sugar and cocoa!) with 3 vegan marshmallows
Lunch: leftover pizza
Supper: yummy green vegetable curry made with carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and green beans.
Dessert: homemade cake! (Tara's chocolate cake and Tara's chocolate frosting from "La Dolce Vegan"). The cake didn't turn out too well, it was too moist (I think the recipe calls for too much water), so it broke horizontally as I was removing it, leaving a bunch of cake in the pan. So I just frosted the top half anyway, it still tasted FABULOUS. I've never had such a moist cake, I think it would have been perfect if it hadn't broken on its way out of the pan. And the frosting (page 261) was the best I've ever had in my entire life! Sooo fluffy! *runs to get another piece*
"Man can do as he wills, but not will as he wills" - Arthur Schopenhauer

Emmy they had two veggie dishes! I told them I was alergic to both milk and egg and the chef told me they didn't put them in because of allergies etc. There was like a chic pea and butternut squash mix - kinda like a curry and the other was a bean chilli. I also had cous cous with it lol. Also don't forget your family card cuz it's 50p cheaper with it (I'm abit of an ikea whore )
Rainbowcarosel - as for eating loads....I've been vegan for a year and a half and things have settled down over time but my moto is if you like it and it's vegan stuff your face. I love food so damn much
BREAKFAST:
Left over winter stew from yesterday on two slices of wholemeal toast
LUNCH:
Red pepper, onion, mushroom and courgette curry with basmati rice and parsley. On the side a big salad of olices, sweetcorn and lettuce. (Work canteen - although I must admit it was quite oily and made me feel a little sick!)
DINNER:
More left over stew with a couple of fishless fingers chucked in for good measure.

Thanks! I love it... and people actually knew the word vegan and asked me if I was!! And then they said "well we have gluten free, low sodium, and soy-free sauces in addition to also being vegan". They seemed actually interested in my veganism instead of making fun of me!! And they're like well "veganism is great, so I guess you'll know what you're talking about".
