    L: green peppers slices and a small tomato, sliced, with a little more than 1/2 c roasted red pepper hummus

    D: (late)
    -tons of popcorn with a little EB
    -Smoothie: soymilk, banana, frozen strawberries

    Snack: Apple
    Lunch: Salad with balsalmic vinagarette, celery
    Dinner: PB&J, chips & salsa, small brownie piece
    Snack: green beans and corn

    I also ran 3 miles and weight lifted for 30 min. I definetly feel like I overate today, which looking at my list of food, I did!

    Baked beans on toast with marmite, grapefruit juice, banana
    Leftover home made pisto pie (with tapenade, aubergine, courgette, onions,
    basil and red pepper), some cherry tomatoes
    Thai curry with tofu, green beans, mushrooms and beansprouts with rice noodles

    here's my yummy menu from yesterday. (it was my 21st bday )

    bfast: banana
    lunch: whole wheat wrap w/ hummus and balsamic roasted veggies
    snack: almond soy latte
    snack: apple w/ natural pb
    dinner: mango martini lots of chips and salsa, a veggie taco salad (black beans, guac, and lots of veggies of course, w/ cilantro lime dressing)

    1 Bowl of Maple Nut Oatmeal, made on Vanilla Soy Milk and sprinkled with 1 Tablespoon Hemp Seed Nut.

    A few (quite a few) squares of chocolate - had a sugar craving!

    1/2 cup of Casbah Rice Pilaf (cold leftovers from the night before)

    1 Amy's Organic Shepherds Pie with ketchup

    3 Potato & Pea Samosas with Tamarind Chutney

    30g Spicy Plantain Chips

    I've done that before! I was on a pumpkin kick for awhile, and bought the pie filling to eat without the crust.

    Today:
    Breakfast: PB and Banana on oat bread

    Snack/"lunch": An apple

    Dinner: (with a friend)
    -Big salad (lettuce, bok choy, broccoli, cauliflower, baby carrots, and low fat rasp. vinaigrette dressing)
    -Amy's cheeseless pizza
    ETA: watermelon chunks

    Later: Probably a vanilla soy yogurt or a smoothie
    ETA: I ended up having a bowl of Kashi GoLean Crunch with nonfat soymilk

    Okay so people on here really don't eat much at all! Maybe I shouldn't talk, but I feel like it gives people a skewed idea of what normal is. I know as vegans a lot of people are really health conscious and thats great but it is okay to eat something that isn't as 'healthy'. its also okay to eat more than a lot of you do! I would hate for people to not be posting here because they think they eat too much when in reality they probably eat a better amount. I also think you all should not be worried about feeling embarassed when you eat something that isnt necessarily as 'healthy' as some other choices. everything in moderation is okay!

    wmenke - you definately did not overeat yesterday! especially when you ran 3 miles. you shouldnt be so hard on yourself and everything you did eat was healthy. (dont mean to call you out - I just saw that you felt bad and I wanted to let you know you definately shouldnt feel bad )

    Just a thought - don't mean to offend anyone - this is suppose to be a positive post just saying that its okay for people to eat a bit more! I know CC was upset about the amt of food people ate on this thread and so she started the proud to eat healthy thread but it has since become a dormant thread. though it was a good reference as far as what a normal amt of food is - maybe people could check it out

    I also want to point out that I am definately not attacking one person - I'm looking at a lot of the posts on here

    30 Minutes Later:
    Cup of black tea

    Lunch:
    Steamed broccoli, mushrooms, cauliflower, onions, and peas over brown rice and seasonsed with rice vinegar, soy sauce, garlic
    Small handful of pistachio nuts

    Supper:
    6 inch veggie sub
    Regular chips
    Pop

    Evening snacks (not all at once):
    Some blueberry pie
    Pistachio nuts
    Black tea
    Crackers
    Mini corn tortilla with salsa

    wishin, i also dont understand why people get embarassed. you know how they put embarassed faces next to certain foods? why. if its good, eat it lol. i never get that.

    but i dont think there is just one healthy amount of food to eat. everybody eats different amounts of food for THEM. some people need more than others because everyones metabolism works differently. other people get hungry often and some dont. so i dont think anybody should go by whats "normal" because there is no "normal". i dont eat alot some days but i dont think its fair to say that thats a bad thing. some people eat more or less than others. this is the what did you eat today thread. so post what you ate, nobody is judging anyone, were here to get ideas from everyone elses day. and tigerlily, i especially love to see what you ate for the day because its always fun and different things. so nobody should ever think they ate alot. eat whats right for you.

    but i dont think we need to post in another thread so that we can see whats "normal" thats not fair to those of us that eat less. why cant we all just post in the same thread. big deal if everybodys diets vary. thats why were all different people.

    lunch: salad (lettuce, tomato, onion, green pepper, sprouts & vinaigrette), pita w/ hummus, half a pear (the other half got smashed in transport )

    snack: apple, two forkfuls of peanut butter, a couple tortilla chips

    dinner: veggie burger on multi-grain toast w/ avocado mayo, baby romaine & ketchup, raw broccoli w/ goddess dressing, cup of chocolate almond milk

    tina - i dont think we should post in another thread either. and i agree that different people need different amounts. however, i have noticed as a general trend that the overall intake is decreasing and the number of embarassed faces are increasing and thats what i was alluding to. i just referenced the proud to eat healthy thread because i think it can show people that what they eat is by no means too much and actually tends to be a lot smaller, or at least on the smaller side. i just think maybe it would help if people take a look at it - not post there instead! i like just using this thread. but i do think it can give people the wrong idea sometimes.

    Today:

    Breakfast: 2 "biscuits" of shredded wheat with soymilk and raw sugar on top. Cup of English breakfast tea with soymilk and raw sugar.

    Lunch: bowl of red lentil dhal with a pita bread

    Supper: 1.5 vegan taquitos (santa fe chicken and garlic chicken flavours) with Tofutti sour cream. Some fries and LOTS of ketchup.

    Dessert: bowl of strawberry So Nice soy yogurt (it's AWESOME, even my omni bf liked it!)

    I agree with both of you Wishin and Tina, I usually don't post on this thread because I don't eat really 'healthy' things all the time. I eat quite a lot of fried food, chips, biscuits etc.Although I also eat healthy things, vegetables, fruit, nuts etc, I don't post what I eat every day as I think the 'unhealthy' foods look out of place with everyone else's posts.
    For similar reasons I don't post on the 'Lets get fit and healthy' thread either as I don't do any conventional form of exercise. Although I'm always on the go from I get up at 6am until I go to bed at night.

    Egyptian Kocheri (recipe from Linda Mazlik Taste of Middle East)
    I was really pleased with this because I was out at a governor's
    meeting and it was the first time my husband had cooked tea since
    I became vegan about 6 weeks ago. It was really tasty and just made with
    storecupboard cheap and healthy ingredients!!

    Wishin: I'm glad you brought that up. I've been trying to eat more "normally" lately and use this thread to try to get a sense of what "normal" vegans eat, quantity-wise. It does seem like a lot of people don't eat that much. I know that people have different food/energy requirements, like Tina said, but some people do tend to seem to get embarassed about eating less healthy stuff (including myself) and some people don't eat that much. I'm glad you brought it up. I think it can make us all more aware.

    Veggiegirl - I definately know what you mean/show you feel. A lot of people come here looking to see what vegans eat and how much they should eat. I think this thread is a poor representation and because everyone is looking to each other I think that is partly why as a group everyone's intake is decreasing. There are a lot of us here who already have a really distorted view of what 'normal' is and struggle to figure it out. Its tough and while there is no definite answer I think we could all benefit from striving a little harder to find a more balanced intake and to stray away from all the guilt - or attempt to anyways!

    Heres an example from the Proud to Eat Healthy Thread

    DancingWillow:
    Breakfast:
    flax granola cereal with hazelnut milk and cinnamon
    1 organic pear

    Lunch:
    big bowl of organic lentil soup (lentils, yellow onion, peas, carrots, broccoli, olive oil, sea salt, oregano, basil, and other spices)
    2 sunflower seed butter-chocolate chip cookies

    Snack:
    1 organic kiwi
    1 organic grapefruit with turbinado sugar sprinkled on top
    1-2 tbsp sunflower seed butter
    a little bit of chocolate chips

    Dinner:
    Big salad with all organic veggies (red cabbage, yellow squash, scallion, alfalfa sprouts, red chard, spinach, tomato) topped with about 1/4 cup of nutritional yeast, tamari almonds, and Annie's papaya-poppy seed dressing
    1 slice of organic whole grain bread
    handful of chocolate chips
    Lots of good healthy food - but also doesn't deny sweets - and this is pretty standard across all of her entries on the proud to eat healthy thread! and this is just one example - there are also many many many variations and other menus that constitute as a healthy diet

    Thanks for your post Wishin. However, I have to say that I stopped looking at, and posting in that "Proud to Eat Healthy" thread a long time ago. The reason being, is that I felt like a bad eater when I read what others were eating. There's no way I could eat 2000 calories a day without putting on weight. I guess I'm just confirming the point that a few of you have made already - that everyone eats what is right for them.

    Yesterday:

    2 cups of coffee with Silk creamer.

    2 pieces of Wheat & Soy Toast with Earthbalance and Raspberry & Champagne Jam.

    2 Wildberry Buckwheat Waffles with Raspberry & Champagne Jam.

    1 large Soft Pretzel.

    9 Pieces of Veggie Sushi.

    30g of Onion Pakoda chips (bought them in the Indian section at the grocery store).

    30g Organic Corn Chips with Cherry Salsa.

    Cup of Organic Earl Grey tea with Soy Milk.

    4 Oatmeal Cookies.

    sandra, dont ever feel bad to post what you ate. i eat alot of crap too. chips, crisps, slushees, chocolate, etc. lol. if anything it just shows non vegans the kindof varying diet we CAN have and that we really dont just sit around eating tofu and leafy greens!! isnt that the kindof image we want to project anyways? i always feel like an outsider in this thread because i love treats and everybodys always eating so healthily and im just like ugh boring where are the treats and snacks and yummy stuff LOL. (no offence to anyone, im mainly just being silly)

    roxy i agree with you. i need to eat really light in order to lose any weight, and im only losing weight for health reasons, but like i said, we all need different amounts. so lets eat what we eat and get on with it. post it, treats and all! lets see all the yummy gooey veganness that we all devour. i dont want to just hear about the greens and salads and fruits. i want to know what kinds of vegan goodies are out there LOL.

    and about the fit and healthy thread, i dont exercise alot lately but i still post in there. except im posting how i feel about things, you know, about my health and trying to get fit and healthy. thats pretty much the main point about it all. get support when you need it and boast when you dont haha.

    No offense taken Wishin986. I agree everyone's "normal" is different when it comes to eating. I mean, we all aren't the same physically and require different amounts of food to feel healthy. I'm only 5'1" on a good day and I find that being short means I don't eat as much to keep my weight where I want it. Anways, here's my day so far:

    Breakfast: Smoothie with strawberries, blackberries, banana, and OJ
    Snack: Large apple
    Lunch: Silk yogart, cauliflower, celery, and pinapple chuncks
    Snack: PB&J with some chips and salsa
    Dinner: ??? probably some angel hair pasta with sauted veggies

    Lunch: the better part of a slab of chocolate, a peach, a tangerine, 2 wholewheat crackers (no time for a decent lunch today

    snack: bunch of grapes, 1 peach, 1 tangerine, muesli with water (i added shredded coconut, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, raisins and 1 pear)

    supper: salad consisting of: lettuce, rocket, spring onion, tomatoes and lots of wholewheat crackers. dressing: olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, salt. also had some slices of sweet melon.

    snack: had a sudden hunger attack, and made myself a tomato salad..about 8 tomatoes or so, with salt and pepper also had 2 spoonsful of chocolate muesli

    Breakfast:
    -1/2 a sprouted whole wheat bagel with pumpkn butter
    -Smoothie )soymilk, 1/2 a banana, frozen strawberries)

    Lunch:
    -Frozen Amy's lower-sodium veggie-lentil loaf meal with veggie/lentil loaf, mashes potatoes, and peas and corn, all with a tomato-type sauce

    Snack:
    I went apple picking and I had a few bites of an apple to "sample" it, then 2 little apples on the way home. They were really good!

    Dinner:
    -Salad: romaine, baby carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower
    -1/2 c tofu, marinated in Bragg's and broiled
    -1 c brown rice
    Dessert: Homemade applesauce oatmeal raisin cookie from the freezer

    Later: bowl of popcorn with EB

    vegan macaroni and cheese (noodles with melted Tofutti cheddar)
    MMMMMMMMM ....ketchup on it
    I eat nutritional yeast by the spoonful.

    aw so jealous! i miss apple picking! i wonder if they have apple picking in north carolina.. hmm gotta check on that. and bluberry picking in the summer ::sigh::

    i had vegan sloppy joes for the first time today and let me just say it was great! i had never had regular sloppy joes though and I always wanted to try them and so this was awesome!

    breakfast: two packets of grits made w/ soy milk & earth balance

    lunch: footlong subway veggie sub w/ spicy mustard & oil & vinegar

    snack: pretzels and blueberry soy yogurt

    dinner: baked spaghetti (whole wheat spaghetti, mushroom sauce, and tofu "ricotta"), roasted cauliflower w/ lemon-tahini sauce (from the most recent Vegetarian Times), and now I'm waiting for apple crisp to come out of the oven!

    Breakfast:
    Small bowl of cereal with soy milk
    Cup of coffee

    Lunch:
    3 mini fajita things (corn tortilla, chick'n strips, tomato slices, mashed avocado, and salsa)
    1/2 an avocado with salt and soy sauce (sounds gross but I like it!)
    Small cup of chocolate soy milk

    Supper:
    Steamed kale with potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, lots of garlic, and apple cider vinegar

    Dessert:
    S'mores Luna Bar

    Evening snacks (not all at once):
    Cup of decaf coffee
    Small bowl of chickpeas and fava beans with tomatoes, salsa, 1 mini corn tortilla
    Small slice of blueberry pie with a few scoops of soy ice cream

    2 rice cakes with hummus
    some green beans
    larabar
    dinner:
    a bowl of rice with hummus and ketchup
    3 iced oatmeal luna bars.

    Tigerlilly, i love acovado with salt and lemon juice, never tried soy sauce before though but i guess it works in suhi so i'll have to try it
    I wish i could get luna bars here, they sound so good, as ddo Lara bars, damn Australia being so far away... i used to love s'mores

    bfast: oatmeal, apple
    lunch: at whole foods- 1 falafel dipped in ketchup, vegan sundried tomato "chicken" salad on whole wheat bagel
    snack: 8 oz. almond soy latte
    dinner: whole grain bread w/ a tofulike patty, veganaise, lettuce, carrots, iced passion tea
    snack: iced decaf vanilla soy latte (16oz)
    snack: apple
