Cool website Tails I am looking forward to seeing the nutrition chart they are doing.

Techy note - Anyone using Firefox this site does not display unless I am missing a plug in or something but it works fine in I.E 6.

It is a monstrous thing to do, to slay a unicorn...you have slain something pure and defenceless and you will have but a half life, a cursed life, from the moment the blood touches your lips.

Hey, if you are in the UK then also check out our online database, www.isitvegan.info - and let us know when you find vegan products, or products which should be vegan, but aren't. Then we will pester them.

Thanks Eve it's good to see a figure for the animals we save by going vegan each year.
Animals that don't get included in the figures of who we save are bees, cochineal beetles, etc and all the insects and rodents who are killed when we farm crops to feed the animals we plan to eat. Tiny animals will always be accidentally killed in arable farming, but at least by being vegan we save many thousands, perhaps millions of these too.

A while back, I think,I heard something about cochineal use being fazed out, is this true?

It would be super to know how many bees are saved from slavery.

    Default veg/vegan website

as mentioned a few times, I'd really like to see a thread just for urls of websites that are of interest to vegans. Sometimes a website is mentioned in another thread, then it gets lost. This is one I came across today, perhaps others already know of it: http://www.veg-world.com/

Hi Eve, such a thread has been created several times, but the problem is that with almost 3500 different threads, it's not always easy to find without using the search function. (Also, this very subforum basically only contains links to interesting sites for vegans - there are more than 300 already...)

Since this forum also covers articles and news, I have merged some of the 'favorite vegan/vegetarian websites'-threads into this one now, for fast & easy access to the sites you like best.

Next time it gets lost, an easy way to find it is to click on 'Search' (see above), select 'Advanced Search', type websites, and go for the 'Search Titles Only'-option.

At the bottom of the search page you can save your search preferences, for example if you want to use 'Advanced Search' to always search in titles only.
I will not eat anything that walks, swims, flies, runs, skips, hops or crawls.

There's another url that I've added to the Vegan Voice Links page - it's the Animal Rights & Rescue Group, a non-profit volunteer organisation. They rescue homeless or unwanted animals, provide them with care and shelter until suitable homes can be found for them.

Their 'foster carers' and volunteers are all unpaid, monies donated are used directly to help the animals. It's at http://www.animalrights.org.au/
Yes, Roxy the vnv website has heaps of info pls they have a useful newsletter.

A few of my favourites vegan sites are

    vegfam
a vegan charity a bit like oxfam

    The Vegan Family House
A lovely site about a vegan family in Scotland. Lots of info on vegan living and raising vegan children.

The Frugal Living in the UK site isn't strictly vegan, but the people who run it are and it contains vegan recipes and tips for saving money and living more gently on the earth.

the humanimaleye website is quite interesting, but it's one of those websites that take too long to download for my liking. I realise that some people like to see pictorial backgrounds, but for me, the text is more important. The odd pic ok, but even the text here is not set out well enough to read the bottom lines. But of course the more vegan websites the better.

That was fantastic! I am going to email my niece with the URL so she can see it too! She is 19 and only the other week associated pigs in the field with bacon - what is happening? Kids today do not seem to realise where their food comes from? I reckon she will end up veggie as she only consumes fish and chicken - so this will be good for her to see!

    Thanks x
