Just something I got into just over a year ago when I was getting over the loss of someone very dear to me!! It has helped no end and of course to be able to express your views and opinions is always good. I have got loads planned for it still but it is getting myself into doing it at the mo!! Still there is no time limit. I am always happy for anyone to contribute, so if anyone does please don't hesitate to email me on Stormypagan1@aol.com.
Love and light

India: Vegan Community in Auroville
Sadhana Forest is about growing trees and growing people. Volunteers from all over the world, as well as Aurovillians, work together in this new reforestation project. We are recreating the indigenous forest of our area, the Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest . We practice an eco-friendly way of life including veganism, alternative construction, solar energy, water resource management, and composting toilets. We offer free accommodation to volunteers and interns, in exchange for work. Our experience with volunteers has been fantastic and many past volunteers still continue to drop by. The relationship with neighboring villagers and especially their kids is very warm and open. We invite volunteers of all ages and physical abilities, and warmly welcome families with children!!! Facilities for volunteers include bungalows, a small swimming pool, a vegan community kitchen, and a children's playground . Short and long-term internship and study abroad opportunities can be arranged.

Cool if you want to get involved with local groups or start your own.
excellent website - must try and arrange to contact any other vegans or vegies where I live!

Ha! There is a group in my city too.
There aren't any meetings anywhere near me for vegans
One site I enjoy going to (though I get their newsletter anyway) is http://www.pcrm.org --they discuss why animal experimentation is not necessary as well as why a vegan diet is the best.

Something to think about.
You may find that you are not alone.
Thanks for posting the pcrm.org site. I haven't been there in some time. I needed a friendly reminder to get back there.
I think it's unlikely I could get a vegan group going in my area. I talked to one person who'd opened a health food store in my town who said that many people considered her a "witch" for suggesting herbal remedies and the like. On top of that, anyone I mention being a vegan to says, "how do you not starve to death?"
Another site that I like, that shows that christianity and vegetarianism (not as much of an emphasis on veganism I'm afraid) are not mutually exclusive is: http://www.christianveg.com/default.htm

The new issue of Vegan Voice will be out this coming week. Meanwhile, check out on-line at http://veganic.net/currentissue.htm to see what's there, and click on the buttons down the left side of the page for Articles (The China Study), Editorial, etc. Looks like a great issue yet again.
Thanks Eve. I was just reading "To the Max" and he has some quirky and interesting tid bits there.
Maybe because Max is a rather quirky and interesting guy!
