Below are several new alerts. You can find them posted along with some
pre-written letters here: www.chimpcollaboratory.org/you/index.htm

Letters to the Editor:

FHM Magazine: letters@fhmus.com
May and July 2005: Photo layouts with a chimp modeling power tools and other
new gadgets (May) and posing amidst a poker game (July). The Collaboratory
has received some particularly disturbing information about the training
methods used on these chimps, including pinching, punching, and shock
collars. Unfortunately, this is the industry standard. Please write a very
short letter to the editor of FHM to ask them not to put chimps on their
pages in the future.

Glamour Magazine: letters@glamour.com
April 2005: "Girls gone wild" fashion layout with a baby orangutan, among
other animals. Please write a quick note to the editor of Glamour.
Orangutans and other animals are not fashion accessories. A life in showbiz
puts both the individual ape and the whole species at risk. Tell Glamour
they've committed a fashion "don't."

Alerts:

Dolce & Gabbana

Dolce & Gabbana has 2 current campaigns making use of chimpanzees. The
first is a fashion ad running in US magazines that features the same chimps
used in FHM (see above), fearfully hanging on to the human models. The
second is an ad running in the UK with a chimpanzee modeling a Seiko watch.
Please write to the addresses below to voice your concern about this
alarming trend in D&G ads. Please also ask the US photographer to use only
voluntary models in the future.

General Electric

GE's new "eco-magination" campaign ironically touts the company's forward
minded philosophy while at the same time exploiting an endangered species.
While they deserve accolades for the beautiful computer generated elephant
dancing in the rain throughout the commercial, they missed the boat by
including a live baby chimpanzee.
